Why is it that this sport has such a hard time putting schedules out in a timely manner. I am not experienced in what it takes to run a competition in cheerleading so I will hold judgement. But I would like to know what makes it so difficult.
Other sports seem to get the schedules out several weeks in advance so the participants can make travel plans.
Agreed! I have heard all the excuses from cheer companies (ie. late entries and busy in the office). They require your money so far in advance so why can't they produce a schedule. When you get a revised schedule it usually isn't that much different. Coaches and families would like to plan their schedule and have some idea of how the day will go.
Well, what to say about this comp. There were some good teams and some good programs, some well deserved awards and some not so deserved awards. But what can you do? The only thing in my opinion keeping our sport of All-Star not an offical sport is that the final "outcome" belongs to a few peoples opinion and not a public display of the scores (like a basketball team for instance).
Anyways, this is not my point. Today's competition had some obvious errors and what company doesn't, but forgetting to announce a team at awards to misjudging an entire divisions outcome and having a horrible venue it felt like I was at a 1990's high school competition again.
After attending a well ran and enjoyable competition already this season by another host, it makes me think, when will USA wake up and join the new cheer age?
To the excited kids out there, great job! To the disappointed ones, keep your heads up, I am sure you will not see this outcome again throughout the rest of your season.

First let me say, leaving the parking lot was crazy and frustrating! Just to top off the awful schedule set up, announcements and some wrong placements(in my opinion). I don't understand why USA is still on anyone's comp schedule anymore. Here is a doozie and then I will get to the placements I have written So we stood in line in the cold, no biggie. We pay the adult entry fee and the people gave us a green wristband. So I leave to go outside and come back in and the people at the door insist that I have a child wristband. The guy argued with me that I didn't pay the adult price although it was on my wrist and they insisted you put them on prior to walking through the doors) and questioned where I got it from lol. After he was done acusing me, I told him to take it up with the freaking people at the window, because I was going in and do not question me. Do you know how much we pay a season for cheer? I am not stiffing you out of an adult fare. AND WALKED past him and told him to have a nice day. LET ME SAY AGAIN,THE PARKING LOT WAS CRAZY
Ok so now on to the places (USA only gave out 1st and 2nd in most divsions)
Mini level 1 6 teams power 1st starstruck 2nd silver spirit 3rd
Youth level 1 1 team Royal
Sr level 1 2 teams Power 1st
Mini level 2 1 team Fusion
Junior level 2 4 teams Power 1st All star elite 2nd
Senior large level 3 1 team we think(the announcer screwed up so much don't know) Sierra
Senior small level 3 3 teams Power 1st Royals 2nd
Junior level 3 2 teams Silver spirit all stars 1st
Sr Coed level 3 3 teams Cheer xperience 1st Fusion 2nd
International open level 5 1 team Power
Senior small level 4.2 2teams (again the announcer screwed up) Power 1st
Senior large level 4.2 1 team Power
Senior level 4 4 teams Starstruck 1st Fusion 2nd
Junior level 4 1 team Cheer nation
Sr open level 5 1 team Fusion
Senior level 5 1 team Power
Both special needs teams form all star elite and power were great.
Before I go... The speaker started smoking halfway through the comp and they had to remove it and the rest of the teams had to perform to poor quality sound music. Unbelievable!!

so a few friends and I drove up to support our local teams and could not have been more dissapointed in the running of this competition. It wasn't the worst I've ever been to, but it wasn't too much better. I feel bad for all the athletes who were not given the credit they deserved and even worse for all the coaches who were left dumbfounded with the scoring and judging.
Long story short (because I could talk about this topic forever)...WHY have a score sheet and especially why have point ranges when it's completely disregarded? like really, R U SERIOUS!!!! I feel so so so so bad for all the kids who worked hard to get a majority of skills to have judges look over them COMPLETELY!
ON another note...heres a few of my favorite teams and moments:
Cheer Experience: By far had the cleanest showing of the day. Their routines are executed well, and maxed out in their divisions. Once they add in a bit more flare and polish their elite section they will definitely (like seasons before) be a MAJOR contender (jmo). LOVe Love Love, point dancer...girl totally lives in that routine...werq
Cheer Nation: level 3 I think had some of the cleanest rot's I've seen in a while. Really nice to see this team coming into their own, I really like their style and can't wait to see them in future comps.
Power: No joke, these girls are not playing. Loved J3 and large 4.2. Be sure to watch their pyramid for a "i just died moment".
Fusion: I think it was senior Coed 3, definitely had some really killers stunting that was not only fresh but will totally kill once it hits.
That's all for now...Can't wait to see everyone at GSSA...yippeee!
So I was very upset with the whole attitude of this comp. The security was rude and frustrating. They where acting like we all where trying to pull something over on them. They where rude to me, my wife, my friends and my kids. And we follow the rules.... The sound system was horrible. They say you can't bring in food and then charge outrageous amounts for junk food at their concession stand. Nacho's at 9am really?.. $4.50 for a hotdog. Viewing was horrible as well. I sure hope our gym doesn't return to this comp..
Some of the poorest judging I have seen. How does a team with 3 layouts beat a full team of layouts and standing tucks?! USA needs to get their act together or they will continue to lose a lot of programs.
Does anyone have videos of this division? I am guessing it's senior 4 because you mentioned standing tucks and layouts and that was the only 4 division. So it was.... Starstruck 1st fusion 2nd and power and all-star elite no placements.
Post their videos and let's see and watch. Someone must have them.

I'm pretty sure powers pyramid was part of the reason why they didn't place because 2years ago we did that flip over, pyramid when the center prep just grabs and isn't it suppose to be connected? I'm sorry but can't really describe it without showing you lol, but power 4 has my favriote dance, any other vids?
