I was wondering if your gym has a myspace/facebook policy and what it is? For example some programs monitor their athletes profiles to ensure that they are representing their program in a positive light. Do you feel like this is invasive or appropriate?

I thought about this one for a bit. My first reaction, to your question, is "yes, it's a bit invasive". Then after thinking a bit about it. My answer is no.
I will tell you why. These sites allow you to grant permissions to those that you want to see your page. Each and every person has a right to deny the permission as well. I'm quite sure that every facebook and myspace account holder understands that when you accept a friend that it's open to door to view pictures and text about them. It also opens the door for the judgement of others.
I have seen some highly inappropriate conversations that have gone on between kids, parents, coaches, and even gym owners from time to time. I have seen how gym owners carry on about other gym owners. I have seen these behaviors from the members from the current gym we attend. It's so very sad and highly inappropriate.
It does show us the types of people that are in our gym and if these are the people we want our children to hang out with in the gym and away. No one is perfect and I totally get it. But if there is chaos surrounding certain individuals then maybe i don't need to involve myself in the situation.
I belive people should be free to do as they please without retribution from the gym they call home... however, if the person(s) involved in an inappropriate act are sporting a gym logo, uniform, jacket, tee shirt, ect.. then the gym should have the power to act...
