Let me just say, I am the one who merely asked this question about fliers. I did not bring up gym names because I knew that it would create unnecessary drama.... I asked how this board how they felt because I wanted to know if other parents and spectators found it tacky.
I have spent several years in the all star world from cheering to coaching and I have had the utmost respect for this gym. I would not be saying something like this to "Bash" them at all.
I was there supporting an all-star cheerleader. Her parents car was marked with her all-star team on the windows. After their performance (around 1pm) her uncle and myself walked to the car and had a flyer there. Trust me, I understand that gyms need to find creative ways to get athletes into the gym, but clearly, they were "flyering" cars before the all stars were done. How else would we have received a flyer? We did not stay for the youth or high school divisions.
I wasn't MAD; I just found it slightly rude. Lets just drop the whole issue. I talked to a few members from the alliance and hopefully they will come up with a system or policy for this in the future.
On to the next competition! My favorite season

I totally agree with tracy,
if the flyer does not concern you, or interest you then disregard it and get on with your life.
It should not matter if there were 2 or even 1,000 flyers on your car.
Get over it.
We're all apart of this Alliance, and should act like it, and not hop on here and BASH on other allstar teams for trying to find more ways to get the numbers in their gym higher.
If you're happy where you are then stay there.
but you shouldn't knock down other people for trying to better their business by giving out flyers for the pop warner and high school girls. Stop getting on here and drawing more attention and drama to you and your all star gym.
---This post was posted to ask about the JAMZ competition and how everyone did..
The Executive Board Members felt it necessary to respond to the recent posts in order to clarify the role of the NCAA. We respect the poster has the right to his/her opinion and appreciate the discussion however, we felt it necessary to clarify that the NCAA is not and will not be a governing body that oversees individual business entities. The Mission Statement of the NCAA is to educate, promote, preserve and protect the highest standards of business ethics and practices that will be a model to our clients setting the highest degree of integrity for the All Star Cheer Industry. In a previous post, the NCAA has made it clear that although one of our many objectives is to educate our members about professional business practices and standard code of conducts/ethics of gym owners, coaches, instructors and athletes, we have never taken the position of governing gyms, owners or coaches. We have created processes that will display to the industry as a whole that collectively we are working together to assure that age guidelines are being complied with.
The operating philosophy of the NCCA is that each gym is a private business and is encouraged and supported to be autonomous. We do not discuss marketing strategies. Every gym within the NCAA is a viable business first and foremost. Each gym has the right to conduct their business as they see fit. The NCAA objectives are clear:
1.Coordinate and Negotiate competitive schedules where depth of competition in each division is available at every Northern California Event and acquiring discounted rates.
2.Create and fund the Northern California All Star Scholarship Fund
3.Sport Legitimacy: The NCAA will actively pursue objectives to continuously strive to legitimize the integrity of the sport. This objective will provide leadership for All Star Gyms and promote communication between gyms and the USASF and Event Producers in regards to standardized scoring, judging and implementing procedures to verify authenticity of registrations and compliance with the rules set forth by the USASF.
During the conversation on the message boards it was stated: My suggestion would be to report them to the NCAA, if they are part of this cheer "ethics" program they have going in norcal. It should be addressed
This post implies that there is a process whereby individuals can report what they feel to be inappropriate behavior by members of the NCAA. There is no such process and there is no program in place and it is completely opposite of our goals as an organization. The NCAA has bylaws for its members and a membership agreement. All information regarding the NCAA is fully disclosed at our website www.norcalallstaralliance.org.
Further, it stated that the poster would contact John. Although John is an executive board member of the NCAA, this is an organization with a collaborative structure in place. Goals and decisions are brought forth by the general membership, then move onto committees made of varying gyms and then when appropriate a presentation to the executive board. If the executive board approves it, it then goes to the general membership for a vote. No one individual is the voice of the NCAA.
These message boards can be used as a great source of information and we always encourage open dialogue, however, for the purposes of maintaining accuracy and not allowing a general statement that misrepresents the intent or the purpose of the NCAA to go unaddressed would be inappropriate and inaccurate.
Respectfully,
The Executive Board of the NCAA

I agree , Edge rocked and was by far a great competitor! Odessey was amazing also.. This year will prove again that the talent is amazing and will rock the cheer world! Great job to all that competed today at JAMZ!
Where is Edge located? I hear they are in the Elk Grove Area. I would love to check them out. Anybody have any information on them or other gyms in Elk Grove or South Sacramento?

There are several gyms in Elk Grove and apparently they are all in very close proximity. I'm sure they all have websites if you were to do a search. All are likely listed on the NCAA website as well.
I too agree that Cheer Odyssey was great at this competition and they always seem to have such friendly staff and athletes. I felt it was a great example of what a 4.2 should look like. Although, I'm not sure that I even agree with the addition of this level. Too bad my daughter isn't interested in competitive cheer any longer. CO would have been a great fit for us.
I'll be interested to see what happens throughout the season with the EDGE routines. I thought that there were some good notes (adorable tinys) but mostly I saw messy and too many stunt errors. Of course this can be said for the entire day as a whole. First competition gitters maybe, or is it kids pushed too hard, too fast. October is early in the season.
Good idea for the NCAA board to come on and explain their true purpose. Very well said.
Good morning, Yes EDGE is in Elk Grove. You can check out our website [We are currently making updates] or call us @ 9166702727.
What is your website address? I searched Edge in elk grove and got a soccer team? Are you taking new members now? I will call you. I hear many good things about your gym.

I am a mother, that for the past year had to drag my daughter to cheer. We now are with EDGE All-Star, and my daughter will miss all of her other activities just to go to practice. If it is birthday parties on a Saturday, and she has cheer practice, she will tell me that she will show up late to the party. What a wonderful feeling just to know that my BABY GIRL IS HAPPY? If you are looking in the Elk Grove the area I would Try EDGE. You will be able to raise most if not all of your tuition in just fundraising. This is a big help in todays economy. We as parents love Annette and all of her coaching staff. MOST OF ALL MY DAUGHTER IS VERY VERY HAPPY.
