They were good for their first competition. A few drops but lots of talent. However I think it was their international team!

I loved this competition, John and his staff/kids did an amazing job. I too agree that the venue wasn't perfect, I think its a great thing that the Victory Cup is out growing the facility. I LOVED how they ran awards!! I wish other competitions would use this format for awards. All in all it was an awesome day. I enjoyed seeing all the talent hit the floor. Most placements in divisions were separated by just a few points. It just shows how many talented programs, coaches and kids we have in Northern California. I can't wait to see all the teams and routines grow. Thank you for the nice words about our program. See you all at the next competition!!!

Airborne looked great. I really liked all your routines but your Open 5 routine was top of my list.

I don't recall what program was doing this, but wanted to get your view on this technique. My husband and I were hearing a program, including the families in the program, yelling the counts to the teams routine. Is this common and if so, is this legal? I am not to familiar with the rules and regulations. I, personally, found it unfair and distracting. Can other programs count for their teams?

Yes it happens. Yes it is common.  Particularly at the beginning of the season when the routine is newer and athletes are still getting use to their music.  Music sounds much different in an arena then a boom box.  Sometimes the music is hard to hear because of reverb and it can also be muffled.  Sometimes you can not hear it well on the floor because of how the speakers were set up.

Some of the younger teams will be counted all season.  It hard when your six to count music correctly.

Not a big deal nor is it unfair.

Positivelycheer,

I completely agree with your comments about the beginning of the season and the younger teams. I hope programs count for the younger teams. I am just questioning the senior teams. I should have specified the age level. If this is normal than I have a lot to learn. Thanks for writing back to me and clarifying the count situation.

You are probably talking about my program. The famous 1,3,5,7 that we do for our pyramid sections. It started only at practice from the coaches, then the kids started it and now the parents join in at comps.....It just sorta happened that way, we like it cause it involves everyone. I feel like it is similar to fans that yell out Hit , Hit, Hit , PULL in the jump section. =)

It is in no way illegal, anything that is gonna get all my parents and kids involved I am all for it!

Aerials is also guilty of counting out thier pyramid sections!!! It seems to help the kids also... So why not!

Wow, I'm shocked Odyssey did not beat All American. Yes, Odyssey's tumbling was a little rough, but their stunts were better, their jumps were better, and overall they were more clean and together. I'm glad CO is is looking strong, they are such a nice program. Good luck, I know your team will be successful!

Fame looked good, a little rough, but you can see they have the talent to have a very successful season! Good luck also to that program, they are come out with a bang for only being a 2nd year (I think?) gym.

The girls on both AA and CO nice standing fulls!

Good luck to all teams this season! :)
