I think that's exactly the point. When filling a Senior Open 5, a gym with out another level 5 will use their level 4 or level 3 athletes.
A gym that has other level 5 teams will fill it with other level 5 athletes. Maybe it's more of a large gym vs small gym issue. Even if that's the case with just a few of the palcements, it's a huge advantage. I don't know the answer but this division will be all over the place. They won't be the only team that does it, it's not against the rules.

Agreed, but there is far to many cross overs in this division which has truly taken away the TRUE intent of OPEN 5 .
So after seeing one team in the area with crossovers you say that the intent of the division is taken away? Just because they choose to use crossovers does not mean that others will. The other programs up here that have Senior Open 5 do not another level 5 team so how can they misuse it?
I agree but also thought of something else. Perhaps it goes the other way? Perhaps they are using Open 5 athletes to fill necessary spots on the Senior 5 team?
This new division creates interesting situations. A smaller gym may not have a level 5 team, but they may have more than several athletes (even half a team) who have doubles. So their open 5 team could consist of half a team capable of doubles, the other half may have fulls, or are level 3 or level 4 athletes wanting to try a level 5 team. And in the eyes of most, this would be fine. Now, if the consensus is that crossovers between the two level 5 teams should not be allowed, and you have a gym who has both an open level 5 and level 5 because they want to give their lower level athletes a chance at the open 5, their strongest athletes will be on the level 5 team, leaving the open 5 to consist of athletes working towards level 5, and level 3's and 4's. In this situation, which open level 5 team is at the disadvantage? The one who has lost their strongest athletes to the worlds team of course. Just another way to look at it. I would hope gyms find a combination that is fair to the athletes involved and one that is fair to the cheer community as well.
