RE: all star gym coaches leave?

This is horrible, I do know of coaches at HS level and competative level here in Elk Grove that coach my daughter and they have told the girls they need to quit their other gym and cheer at "their" competative gym instead. NOW THAT to me is wrong! I have never cheered so I don't know if this is the kind of drama that goes on but I feel an adult should act like one. I would have her quit as I feel those coaches are doing this for the wrong reason. Had I known I would have told my daughter to play softball in high school like I did!

Everyone - I really won't put much creditability into this post.   This person jumped on this board and posted something and now has a whopping 1 post to "their" name.   WHOOP!

I will ask the questions that are burning in so many of you.

When did the high school season start?  Back in June?   Are the cheerleaders still in your gym? You need to turn this around and be happy that your cheerleaders have a knowledgable coach at the high school level period. This means that your cheerleader will probably not get hurt and will become an all around better cheerleader.   You are actually quite fortunate.

Perhaps coaches become nervous when other coaches had a chance to coach "their" cheerleaders other then themselves.  This is probably the case.   If your are insecure and are worried that you are being out coached by someone else then yeah you should be worried that your cheerleaders may leave your gym.   If the cheerleader enjoys your gym and you as a coach, it really doesn't matter who coaches them at the high school level.  If not, then, you are going to have to figure out how to keep them in your gym from this point out.

The strategies of coaching are more than sleepovers and pizza parties.  Experience is key.   Perhaps these competitive coaches that are now coaching in high school just played a strategic card.   I can't wait to see how this game is played out.

In our old gym we had all star coaches that also worked at local high schools. They would try and talk high school cheerleaders into coming to their gym instead of staying on their school team. I really don't think you should try to get girls either way. He has been fired from one high school already. The gym he's at does not have a good rep at all. So, sometimes just because the coaches come from an all star gym doesn't always mean the school is lucky! In this particular situation I felt sorry for the high school cheerleaders. The owner and the coach treated these high school kids like if you didn't belong to an all star team (theirs)you were not a "real" cheerleader.

I know of the three gyms this post is talking about.. and my understanding is that coaches (and some moms) are starting up all star gyms, not leaving them!

Of course this would be a bad example as to when not to have an All-Star coach coach a high school team.  This is probably an exception to the rule more than the norm.

I would be extremely excited to have several area all-star gyms coaching at the high school level.   There really isn't a comparison between the typical high school coach/baby sitter and an all-star coach.   My opinion only of course!

Wow! High school coach/babysitter? All Stars is not for everybody. There are a lot of high schools in our area that win on a national leval. Their coaches and cheerleaders work very hard! Their are parents that can't afford all stars so, high school is the only way they can cheer. Don't reduce these kids as unimportant or kids who need babysitting. That's just how this all star owner and coach treated them! There are a lot of talented high school cheerleaders! And there are owners and coaches who shouldn't be in cheer period! Just my opinion!

Tracy,  you don't need to be rude,  EVERYONE here is new at some point.  There are even other posters on this same subject that are new!  YOU are rude,  IF I didn't know any better you just might be my daughters coach.  If I hadn't paid all this money I would have her quit the High School cheer program and turn you in to the school district.  But I cannot guarantee you are her coach but I have a hunch you are.  You might know alot more than I do of cheer, I never cheered but geesh you need to relax no one is calling out your real name here.  Nor am I saying YOU are doing such things.  I only know of this post as another mother at the high school that her daughter does HS and AllStar told me about it and told me to do an anonymous name so I can actually vent and not have my daughter get any slack for giving out my real name.  I was just giving my opinion on how I thought this was wrong.  Gosh after reading some of these posts, I'm grateful my daughter doesn't do All Stars it has more drama than days of our lives.
