bravo to the above two posts. I have always taught my kids that you finish the season no matter what. Every year isn't perfect and you will survive this season ( I have kids in 3 different club sports). The end of the season BEFORE tryouts is the time to look at the past season and make a choice to stay or go.

Really? In response to the 1,345,047 posts about loyalty and about private tryouts or meetings for new member... DUH!!!! Lets all get off the moral express and look at it for what it is... If you are a fierce little level 3.... bless your heart... but YOU'RE A LEVEL 3.... Lets keep it real, level 5's make or break a program; they are the billboards for a gym. As for private meetings ummm... I think any coach in their right mind would set up a private meeting for a kid with a double, standing full ect. Hell I'd offer milk and cookies, a nice rib-eye and some "would you like fries with that". ... but really it is a shadey sport all about who you know and what you got, get with it or check out the drill team like everyone else who doesnt make the cheer squad... OMG I LOVE CHEER!!! hahaha... hugs and kisses...

It's a shame that you've become this bitter.  I know that all star cheer isn't all puppies and rainbows, but you've obviously had some pretty tragic experiences.

The level 5 teams do get most of the publicity and they should.  They are absolutely at the pinnacle of the sport.

But if you think the level 5 teams make or break a program, you haven't talked with too many gym owners.  They are more likely to break it, if anything.

A gym is much more likely to make money on the lower level teams and classes.  They usually are lucky to break even on the level 5 teams; the ones that make money are very limited.

And, yes, cheerleading is very much about who you know.  Just like EVERYTHING IN LIFE.   It doesn't matter what skills (cheer or otherwise) you have, you need someone to give you a start or a break.  As you grow up and make friends and contacts, as long as you treat them correctly, it is very likely that one of those people will be the one that gives you a helping hand.

If you think the whole sport is shady, maybe it's time to find another livlihood.

I think it is time, (as ibase stated i think) to ignore these bitter and harsh critisisms from these ignorant posters and just focus on next year. This topic all stemmed from one post about Kiara going to CA and it has been nothing but drama for 2 days. I agree ibase, another CA commercial. And ACEDAD you hit the nail on the head! Best post in the last two days. I'm bored with this can we move on now?

This is all stupid. If you really believe all theese things about CA why dont you take all this hate out in he gym to prove yourself. Instead everyones venting through theese message boards. Weather or not you think its right it was the girls choice to join CA and we should respect that. CA is a great gym with great coaches and if you dont agree then thats your opinion but please dont take it out this way where you could be hurting peoples feelings

That's the point. Lower level teams are the bread and butter of all allstar programs. Most really good level 5 cheerleaders especially boys are recruited from other gyms with you can cheer for free. While the lower level parents foot the bill. I understand that it is a business and the owners can do what ever they want but they need to remember that it's not only about the level 5 teams and the kid with the standing double.

Ace Dad you are entirely right and I completely agree that the lower levels are what allow a gym to function. My point was that the level 5 teams are the "billboards" which entice lower level athletes to cheer and if a program has a succesful "highly skilled" team then more will be attracted.

THAT IS HARSH AND I DON'T AGREE!  ALL TEAMS AND LEVELS REPRESENT A GYM.

HUH?  What exactly are you trying to say? Didn't quite understand your post.  I agree with the above post from lol123.  Enough already.  Let's move on.  It seems like the people who are supporting CA are doing more bad than good.  You may want to take Eddie's advice and stop posting.  I am all for stating your opinion but it is getting very monotenous when the same posters keep posting the same thing over, and over, and over, and over.  We get it! Really!

Let me be very clear,  I not only read your response and many others thoroughly, but my first response was about loyalty and what is best for our cheerleaders. I was in agreement with cheerinmom & you.

While your experience is quite unfortunate, the most important thing is your cheerleaders are happier wherever you decided to take them. I never said YOU in particular said anything about favoritism. It is, after all, no where in your writing.

I chose to write about that other/ugly side of why people choose to leave gyms. This also occurs when people feel their children are ignored or not "favored".  Instead of taking a reality check across the board, which would be the unbiased thing to do, they chalked it up to the coaches and/or program. Which is, and I hope you do agree, quite unjust and unfortunate.

I will most certainly agree with you that we must have high expectations of all our athletes, no matter what their skill level. How else can they be challenged to grow beyond their comfort levels?

My opinion is open and unbiased, without a thread of drama. SO I will thank you not to make it one.  It was intended to show the other side. Isn't this the perfect venue for our opinions, experiences, and to shed light on issues?  However, it does seem by your response that I have hit a nerve, and I hope that was not the case. Good luck to you and yours.smile

That is what usually seems to happen when a post is about California Allstars.  Just drop it and it will go away.

This has got to be one of the dumbest threads I have ever read. Are you people serious? Arguing over one of the sweetest little girls in the world? Seriously?? Get A Life. Also, stop stating your opinions when you don't have facts, it makes you look incredibly ignorant and reflects poorly on your gym. Is Kiara considered a public figure yet? I'm pretty sure this is considered slander if she isn't.

GEEZ Talk about  RIDICULOUS!disbelief

sorry but just because they have the word Cali in their name does not mean they are from california Allstars ha they might just live in California or want people to think they are from CA to give the gym a bad name, you are making assumptions.

GROW UP. It's funny how everyone wants to sit there and bash everyone. I know that this may amaze some people, but its just cheerleading and its incredibly unfair to bash on such a young sweet person who has done nothing to hurt any of you. Have you ever thought about her feelings? Not only that, but its just pathetic that you all feel the need to state your opinions on gyms when you have no clue. GET YOUR FACTS STRAIGHT. Also, to straight out lie about a person and communicate it to more than 1 other person is ILLEGAL. Whoever is sitting here bashing on other programs and people just means that they aren't confident enough in themselves, their gym, or their team. Why don't you find a hobby like maybe.......actually cheering.......or caring about more important things in the world. Put your energy elsewhere, it doesn't matter what gym I'm affiliated with, the fact of the matter is, most of you sound ignorant and its just sad. Its beyond obvious that these mean people feel threatened by programs such as California All Stars so instead they go on and bash them, this also applies to many other gyms. Just remember, we're all involved in cheer for the same reason, at least I would hope so, so stop adding to the bad reputation that cheer already has because it really is a great sport.

FYI it doesn't matter if she is a minor in this case, the fact of the matter is that it is illegal to lie about a person, regardless of age to more than one person. Also, unless she really is considered a public figure, it is illegal to slander the girls name in any way. Speaking about her in a nice manner is NOT ILLEGAL, regardless of her age. Pictures are a different story........once again......get your facts straight.
