I honestly think junior teams should go to worlds, obviously they are there for a reason because they earned it, they earned that bid to worlds. Some of us worked really hard to get there and get that good. We are the same level, the only difference is we are younger. We have the same skills, same tumbling, same stunting, same jumps and we deserve it, just as much as the senior teams do. All of us put are heart and soul into this sport and have been looking forward to worlds since we started and now that we're finally here we don't want too sit back and watch the seniors take the gold when we know we're just as good and could have been on that stage wearing our first place rings. So don't tell us that we need to "wait",it will be something to look forward to, When We Already have been, don't tell us we aren't as good as the senior teams, don't tell us that we aren't ready, because we are. Thank you. I hope you understand.
It is so awesome that as a younger athlete you have put the time, energy, and dedication into your sport. Attaining level 5 skills is not an easy task.
This decision , which I believe is the right one, puts the emphasis for our younger athletes on skill development and competitive maturity. I am lucky enough to have had some very talented Jr teams over the past several years as well as this year and each has pursued a worlds bid (this year I decided even before this ruling that we would not). During these years I saw first hand what the struggle and challenge has done to younger athletes. Very few of my younger athletes (11yrs & below) benefited from the mental and physical struggles they endured. Most ended up "burning out" and that is exactly what this decision addresses and in my opinion it is absolutely correct.
Don't look at this as a set back it is not. Continue to work hard! Continue to improve your individual as well as your teams skills! Dominate in your area and learn the lessons of COMPETITIVE GREATNESS that Coach John Wooden talks about and in the end when you reach the top you will cherish and appreciated it more!!! (PS John Wooden is my all time inspiration for coaching and has a website that is amazing for kids and parents you should look it up!!!)

So I am told that next year 2010, they will not have a Junior Division at Worlds. It's still being debated. What are your thoughts?? ACE DAD keep us updated please!
My opinion is, It should only be the Senior Divisions and it should be something all cheerleaders look forward too, when they are old enough and make a senior team. It makes it so much more special. 9 year olds should not be at Worlds. It should be a goal for all cheerleaders.
JR. does not involve 9 year olds and if they are nine they DESERVE to be there
one of our girls was nine she JUST turned ten and is are last pass, why? because her pass is absolutely amazing and is better than the last pass that won SENIOR 5 last year
get it? we have been looking forward too it.
wow!
put urself in our minds would u want to have worlds taken away from you, when ur finally there for the first time!
Yes, Youth 5 teams should go to Worlds. So should Mini 5 teams. And Tiny 5 teams. And Parent teams. And Senior 2 teams. And Youth 3 teams. And Junior 1 teams.
We should open it to everyone. It's only fair.
And everyone should be able to get a bid. A paid bid.
And everyone should get a globe trophy. And a ring. And perform twice.
And I nominate that Eric Little does everyone's dances. Everyone's.
that's funny!! But the truth is all level five teams should go and maybe they should just be more selective on who they give bids to and make it worlds a real competition.
I just looked at the schedule and WHO DIDN"T GET A BID!!!
NOT TRYING TO BE MEAN BUT WORLDS ATTENDATES SHOULD BE THE BEST IN THE WORLD ......NOT EVERYBODY IN THE WORLD!!
SO IF THEY CUT OUT SOME OF THE EVERYBODY THEY MIGHT HAVE ROOM FOR SOME JR TEAMS.

you have a good point but, then its just like a really big competition, and has no point, it wouldnt be special, so I think it should be olny level 5 from ANY category like senior junior youth open anything level 5,

No I defiantly believe that the Junior level should remain at the National level only and not go to worlds. Please do not think that I am diminishing your talent or effort at all. I am proud of all my Junior athletes. It is just that we have gone to long as a sport giving the ultimate prize to the youngest athletes. Keep working hard i know that when your time comes you will be AMAZING!!!!!

I agree that Junior teams should not go to Worlds. How is this any different from the age restrictions imposed by the International Olympic Committee which has established a minimum age for gymnasts??? It's a great thing to train and be developed with the goal of Worlds in sight for our younger cheerleaders. Even if the GREATEST gymnast in the world was 10, she wouldn't be able to qualify for the Olympics. We need to all accept this and move on already......

Just a note for all you coaches that are planning to submit a video to USASF: It is up to YOU to make arrangements to obtain the competition video. If you are attending an event that does not allow you to video, you will need to make some other arrangements. The Parent Action Committee has contacted most of the event producers and asked them to keep this issue in mind and possibly make an advanced plan to accomodate the junior 5 division.
In any case, please think about this before you get to the event.
