so i just realized what was going on today when I tried to show a friend of mine our performance at all levels.. and as i read the message board just now and hearing how varsity can "claim all rights" to these videos... here is my thing.. the cheerleaders are the ones who are performing, WEEE should have a say whether or not a video gets posted or not.. I can understand at the beginning of a season when gyms dont want videos posted incase there was an event where another team jacked their stuff (although, we all use youtube as inspiration, which is not a bad thing at all).. but i dont think varsity has the right to tell us that we CANT WATCH OURSELVES on youtube.. and i agree with what many people stated about the videos speaking for themselves on that lack of judging that took place..
I have to disagree with "Cheeeer"s statement as well.. I agree that at most competitions there are teams who feel they are misjudged and what not, but I have never in my life seen so many confused and frustrated cheerleaders, coaches, parents, and just regular spectators during an awards ceremony. We talked to the program director and he said that All - Levels is a new competition, but it really isnt. The name may be new, but none of the directors are new to cheer competitions, scoring, judges, it is all familiar to them. It has to be considering they were trying all season to get us to come to one of the biggest competition in the cheerleading world. Plain and simple, they screwed up.. a lot.
and another thing, another reason why people this season especially are taping at all varsity events.. its because varsity doesnt show FULL routines online.. and they always seem to manage to cut some of the best parts out..
Cheerbandit.. it sucks that you got targeted for something that we all are guilty taking part in whether its video taping or exploring on youtube.. you have my support haha
I think parents give cheer companies the "rights" to the video when we sign registration paperwork....I'm not positive but it would make sense..... I was under the impression the entire routine would be posted by varsity on may 7th...I think the website says the routines would be rejudged by a panel that is looking at all of the finalists. I could be WAY wrong but that was what I got from the website

I think parents give the right for Mr Video or whoever to tape the competition.. im not sure about the rights to other peoples videos.. and usually at competitions they state throughout the comp that video taping is either allowed or prohibited.. and I was there all day both days, and i heard nothing so I don't know. I hope they post the full videos online though.. it would be a shame that the rest of the country could not see the teams that made it full routine....
I agree....they should have stated that taping was prohibited...not that people wouldn't have taped anyway but it would have given them a better leg to stand on. I understand why varsity doesn't want the videos out there (there are still 3 regions left to compete) but it seems ridiculous to try to control the distribution of the videos if they were freely allowing people to tape performances at the comp.
haha im totally fine with the other sites seeing how things went down but thats just me.. 1. they will see the amazingness of the west coast/ west side style.. and 2. they will have a heads up of things to expect.. although i hope that they have better luck and things figured out for them..
Please name another comp with this many problems, I would avoid it also. You seem to have missed my point, the concept was great the handling of it was very, very bad. I think now that the door has been opened, there will be other organizatios (besides varsuty) that will put on this event and do a much better job.
I guess I understand both sides of it....I just think if they end up having this comp next year they should schedule all the regions on the same weekend so this isn't even an issue. And I definitely hope they get all these kinks worked out before May 2nd and 3rd....I feel horrible for the teams affected by it!

When we got to the comp I had my video camera with me and I asked if it was ok to video tape our team. They told me it was ok and there was no rule at this event prohibiting it.
