RE: All Level Worlds

Tracy, I agree 100%, changes have to be made.   It seems every year it gets worse, from giving bids to just about everyone to adding more divisions so more gyms can claim they are national champions.  And absolutely NO accountability for errors or poor judging.   Xpressjag, you may have been happy with all the placements, but you are in the minority, and thank goodness for that.

Didn't say I was happy, but I said the MAJORITY of divisions were correct. Most people are posting about 2-3 divisions. Compare that to the number of divisions offered and you will see that is a small amount. What competition can you name that hasn't had score errors, judging errors, performance mistakes, or competition mishaps. Not many!

To be totally honest, I was a little shocked that we tied for third, but not shocked that we scored well.  We did have a drop and couple popped passes.  In this day and age of cheer, those all would have been deductions.  But IALC decided to take it back to "old school scoring," meaning they scored on overall presentation and brought back the subjectivity into scoring.  They just gave teams that had mistakes lower scores on execution.  Am I happy that we placed? Yes!  Do I agree with the scoring? No.  We just saw cheer judging take a step back from what we are all trying to get to, a fair, unbiased, non-subjective legitmate scoring system across the the board.  When will it happen?  Only time will tell, but if companies keep going backwards like this, it will take a long while!  Anyways, always appreciate everyones honesty on this message board.  Until next time!
Revelations 22:20-21.  Happy Easter!  "He is risen." Remember the true meaning.

Peace Out!

So my post was the first one about the WHACK scoring system on Friday night when we got back to our hotel.  Now that I'm home and I'm reading all of your posts, I'm glad I wasn't alone.

It is an understatment to say that I'm disappointed in this event.  I was absolutely shocked and furious about what happened there, not only with my divisions, but with most of them.

I HATE the fact that teams are going online to represent the "West Coast" in the "online grand championship" who have full-on pyramid crashes and stunt falls, when there were teams in the same division who brought their A game, but didn't place.  I actually like the concept of no deductions, however it has to be used right, and mistakes can't be "looked over" just because there aren't any mandatory deductions.  I feel like I should have told my level 4 kids to go out and throw a squad standing tuck.  They don't all have standing tucks, and several would have fallen on their heads, but we would've gotten credit for a squad tuck, right?  Ughhh, so frustrating.

Also, I've read most of the problems that you guys faced, but did you know that they are hiring a new panel of judges to re-judge Large Senior Open L2, and that they are supposed to "call us" and let us know the outcome?  Yes, straight from the event producer's mouth.  Instead of paying for comp fees and travel, why didn't we just send in a video?  Geez...

Here's my take - If done right, this event could have taken off into a HUGE annual year-end event.  Not only did the IALC market this as a prestegious, professional, worlds-like event, and then shoot themselves in the foot with the judging, but they are also hurting all of the legitimate event producers who offer bids to this competition.  We went to several events this year simply because they were "IALC qualifying events."  When planning our schedule for next season, this will not be something we take into consideration.

If they simply got the judging right, I would have been able to look past the poor warm up area (with lights out, and no spring floors) the 27 hour wait for awards, the non-recognition of 4th place and under, the 74 hour wait for scoresheets, and the 12 hour wait to get the placings, poor seating, no open warm up floor, the scheduling on EASTER weekend, the $9 burgers, ... wait... maybe not...

Tell it Riptide!
I completely agree with you and said as much in the e-mails I sent to ALL the contacts on the IALC website (not that I'm expecting it to accomplish ANYTHING). I at least felt better saying it.
You hit the nail on the HEAD. Instead of coaches stressing EXECUTION, EXECUTION, EXECUTION at every practice leading up to this event we should have gone ahead and put up that extra stunt group even though they weren't ready, told them to hit their heel stretches and cross our fingers. Hey, it wouldn't have mattered if it didn't hit anyway right?
To have a whole new panel of judges come back to "review" one division when the whole competition was a joke and then make you wait for the results is a JOKE.
What a poor excuse for a lower level national competition this was. I would love to hear the comments when these videos are posted on their website for all to see.

do you really believe that the next panel of judges will come up with a different outcome and change the results order?  The flock needs to stay together.  If they don't they will have lost all credibility.   Think about it.  there is no way the results will change.  its a business and the business can't afford the results to change.

Good Evening,

Hope everyone traveled safely home. I would like to thank everyone for the kind words about our amazing kids on Level 4. As of right now we have not heard from the competition directors about the placement change. Of course our program wishes to congratulate Titan Elite. Accidents happen, it is just hard when it happens to your kids, especially when we had no idea that it was going on. Out everything that happened this weekend to me this is the worst, not because the mistake happened, but because I was not informed in a manner that would allow me to contact my team instead of people reading it on this board and on youtube.

We definetly had a major issue in the begining of the routine, 4 members lined up improperly and crashed into each other mid flip in the opening. We had many serious injuries coming off the floor, I am just proud that they continued the routine and finished the year knowing what teamwork and heart is all about.

Titan Elite is an amazing program with a very talented team. I am sad that they did not get the excitement of winning on stage. So know I will wait to discuss the matter with the higher ups so I can explain to my athletes what happened.

Happy Easter Everyone,

Nicole Nicosia

Tell them that they were the best team in that division -No disrespect to Titans but even with the tumbling mishap you were simply BETTER. Teams with falls and other tumblimg mishaps palced and what happened to points for recovery? Your team makes me smile whenever I see  them, I think you were on of the most entertaining teams of all the levels I saw all year.
And before anyone asks Iam NOT affliated with Airboure in any way. Good cheer routines deserve to be aknowleged and thats what i am doing

Some of the teams and orders are incorrect, so they are still making errors.  Major sigh.

the results did change... my team went from fifth to third.. in the sr open 2.. and the original third place team dropped to sixth.. which is probably where it should have been since they dropped their pyramid..
