don't be so quick to give CA small 5 a paid bid - USA judges on cleanliness, and I have yet to see that CA team preform without dropping 2-3 stunts. its a bit rude to act assume they would walk in and take the full paid - there are many talented teams in small 5.
USA Judges love CA, and they are not about clean.
I tried to warn all of you, they are terrible when it comes to allstars. Michael B. is old school. Shame on him and those sorry excuses for judges that they use.
Every single coach knows that one foot needs to be on the performance surface before the music starts.....even my mom knows that. It is in the USASF RULES! Do your homework and don't complain that USA didn't do their job watching you in warm up. Pretty sure they are one of the only competitions that has penalty judges back stage.
I felt the warm up was fabulous. You had as much time as you wanted to warm up tumbling on the spring floor and on the mats they put out for everyone. Then there was an entire full size spring floor with official time. This is rare at many competitions. There were a few delays because of awards, but our gym simply said we wouldn't start warm up until they were on schedule with awards. We started warm up a little later and problem was solved. USA was very accommodating with us. Just ask and they helped us out.
CA was amazing. There wasn't one person that didn't look at that routine and feed of the energy they put on the floor. Cheerleading is a PERFORMANCE. If it is just about difficulty, I am going to start bringing my teams to "throwing the hardest skills possible....who cares if they don't land IT IS ABOUT THE DIFFICULTY"....this is absurd that people say these comments. You have to hit what you put out there with perfection. Winning is about putting the highest degree of difficulty your gym can perform with PERFECTION. NOT mediocrity. What CA does isn't always the most difficult....but they perform it with perfection.
Stop complaining about USA, you know what to expect so hit a clean routine. Before Spirit Sports everyone knows to add difficulty. All in all cheerleading is judged! It is their opinion. Looking at the division overall, I felt the placements came out quite perfectly

i believe that this was, by the far, the most pathetic excuse for a "NATIONALS" competition that i have ever been to.
forget the placements, forget the bids, forget the "who watered down" non-sense.
i was reading many comments made about the judging and scoring system. and i believe that everyone is RIGHT!!!! so why do we keep coming back to USA competitions???
the venue was horrible...the sound system was elementary...the judges werent certified...the warm-up area was a joke...the award ceremony wasn't professional. i can go on and on and on...WOULDN'T YOU AGREE?
so why do we go????? let the world be done with ALL USA COMPETITIONS!!!!!!! take all the teams who were there just to chase bids to worlds...now take all the teams that were there just so that the teams in worlds categories would have alternates...are we done calculating??? lemme know what you come up with.
its like dating someone who treats you like dog crap, hits you in front of your friends, and verbally abuses you at home...yet we still date them. its time to DUMP USA for good. its a bad relationship for all-star cheer. now i know why SO MANY GYMS boycott USA competitions.
BOYCOTT USA COMPETITIONS!!!!!BOYCOTT USA COMPETITIONS!!!!!BOYCOTT USA COMPETITIONS!!!!!BOYCOTT USA COMPETITIONS!!!!!BOYCOTT USA COMPETITIONS!!!!!BOYCOTT USA COMPETITIONS!!!!!BOYCOTT USA COMPETITIONS!!!!!BOYCOTT USA COMPETITIONS!!!!!BOYCOTT USA COMPETITIONS!!!!!BOYCOTT USA COMPETITIONS!!!!!BOYCOTT USA COMPETITIONS!!!!!BOYCOTT USA COMPETITIONS!!!!!BOYCOTT USA COMPETITIONS!!!!!BOYCOTT USA COMPETITIONS!!!!!BOYCOTT USA COMPETITIONS!!!!!BOYCOTT USA COMPETITIONS!!!!!BOYCOTT USA COMPETITIONS!!!!!BOYCOTT USA COMPETITIONS!!!!! BOYCOTT USA COMPETITIONS!!!!!BOYCOTT USA COMPETITIONS!!!!!
USA is a sad excuse for a competition, and a last resort for gyms to get their bids otherwise they wouldnt even be going to your competiton. AND!!!!!!!! this year it was at the LA Convention center NOT because it was a larger venue and could accomodate the large scale of USA ALL STAR NATIONALS, NO NO NO NO NO...the attendance wasnt even that large. The Anaheim convention center was already scheduled to host another saporting event that could have more effectively use the large space alotted by the Anaheim Convention center. it just so happened to work out that the LA convention center was available due to cancelling of other events that were hosted there because of the down fall of our economy.
USA needs to stick to what they know best, HIGH SCHOOL CHEER circa 1980.
Get with the program USA, U Suck A$$.
YOUR TRADITION, BLOWS...your philosophy is a joke.
TRANSLATION: YA LATE!!!!!!!!
PLEASE RESPOST IF YOU AGREE...
and lets all join hands and BOYCOTT the UNITED SPIRIT ASSOCIATION!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Lol, couldn't agree with you more. When you pay that much money we as adults, need to make sure that out hardworking athletes get a fair comp!!!
Let me just remind everyone a two day pass for a spectator was 30 bucks. 30 bucks got us janky judging, awfully ran warm up room, and a sound system that sounded worse than a stock radio. Shame, shame.

Its really good to hear these comments from coaches. We were considering USA Nationals for next season.....definitely will NOT be doing that now!

You must not have been at the same competition as everyone else.
I want to see a competition. If you can hit it at practice it should be in your routine. I hate seeing level 5 tumbers on a level 2 team just so they can have "CLEAN" tumbling. Or 6 yr old flyers on a Jr. team so they can have "CLEAN" flying then shove them in back when they can't keep up with the dance or tumbling.
I love seeing a team go out and give it their ALL and coming off the floor with the self-esteem and hugging each other because they know they gave it all they had and they hit it perfectly. That is what was lacking in some, not all, but some of these routines to make the judges of USA happy and score them well. Is this what you want for your team?
Parents don't complaint about all competitions. I love Jamz, American, and so many others, this was just an embarrassement the business of fair competition. What happened to getting free backpacks, now you have to earn them for winning instead of getting jackets (Not hoodies or cheap jersey shirts) which is what our children want anyway. The free stuff is dissapearing and it is now all about the money.

I agree with you pumapower and I want to add... Best Team in the World...It was Bullets Baby and Honestly (From CA) who were the ones who said when you have difficulty being clean is secondary..regarding Texas when CA dropped their stunts and still got 6th the first day..and Spirt Sports when they dropped the second day and still got 2nd or 3rd...They also said you have to max out the score sheet.. And when you do that and have an error it shouldn't effect the score that much. Of course that is ridiculous!! But reading their posts now their story has changed. not too suprised about that...
I think that CA did GREAT! They nailed the routine.. They won!!! That is exactly what they came to do. Everyone told them they had to stick ALL the performances this weekend...and they did...However, still people are upset??
The reason I think people are still upset with their placing , In my opinion, is because they didn't come with the same difficult routine, that they hadn't hit cosistantly. They played it safe. Okay.. So they HAD to go with an easier routine so they could hit it clean...No harm no foul..Not to mention, I think they replaced a flyer or two..But Ok, can't blame them..They HAD to hit clean...and they did. Congrats...
I also think people are just not fond CA because of their superior attitudes. Like the T-Shirts for example..."Hope you like the cold...cause we're taking the jackets" and my personal fave.."Haters, Thanks for the Love"...Really? Is that good sportsmanship? You will never see that in any other sport like baseball, football, soccer...etc.
All Star Cheer is making such strides and this type of arrogance is just what the sport doesn't need. Let's try to keep it positive...And regarding Honestly and Bulletsbaby (who always seem to be saying things out of left field to start drama) lets do what the Poster says and ignore these rude posts...

I am confused as to what placements people were expecting. People are really upset about the scoring, but how should the divisions had played out? I felt that where people had more difficulty, another team may have made up points in cleanliness. It isn't all about what tumbling or stunts are thrown. People forget about jumps and overall choreography. That is one thing CA has over a lot of teams. Their routines look very smooth and are executed very well. I feel this makes up for lack in difficulty. Did people feel Magic should have been first? Or Cheerforce? Where is all the anger coming from? just wondering
Ok - so some teams didn't like their placement, and the fault is . . . USA! Of course it's the judges - too funny. This just sounds like a lot of sour grapes. I'm not from CA and our team competed against them, but I can say without hesitation that CA definitely deserved the win, and the grand champ, and the full paid bid. Another poster commented on the "perfection" of CA's routine and I couldn't agree more. There was difficulty and variety, they were clean, their jump timing and levels were perfect, their flier positions were gorgeous, and most of all "awesome showmanship!" I think every team in our division knew it was over once CA nailed day 2 with a stronger performance than day 1. (in all honesty) Congrats to them.
USA might be considered "old school" but good for them for consistently judging the fundamentals of the sport as well as difficulty and performance. I elaborate on CA's performance because I think they embody these principals. They don't sacrifice substance for style. It's refreshing to see a team from the West Coast pay attention to "all" the details of the sport and perform a clean and difficult routine that is energetic, engaging, and exciting.
I don't want to post negatively about any specific programs because I respect how hard the cheerleaders, coaches and gym owners work, but appeared to me that the judging this weekend was pretty accurate. I think it's up to the gyms to know the scoresheets and rules for each competition and to take this into consideration going in.
The nonsense about disorganization and poor warm up areas and long waits for awards are false. Loved the poster about Cheerpros warm ups on foam strips under the bleachers LOL!! I also like that USA doesn't fill up these gaps with parent dance offs (a la Jamfest or Spirit Club) or hired entertainment (a la Jamz Vegas) to distract from delay time and that they don't have music blaring so loud between performances (a la Spirit Sports) that you don't have to shout at the person next to you to be heard or step outside to have a brief conversation.
Ok - that's all for me. I really need to get back to my real job now ;)

Lets say you have a team that the whole team has a standing full yet one or two touched when executed. They should get max points for tumbling and two deductions for the touches. However at this competition they gave both teams the same overall tumbling score as a team that only has two standing fulls that had perfect execution with no deductions which gave the easier routine the higher overall score. I believe it should be the one who the whole team did the standing full tumbling even though they had two touches they have the more "difficult" routine.
dont even get me started with the floor -- you think the floor was bad for cheer -- you should have seen it for dance -- ugg -- they called it a wood floor with a thin marley overlay -- with STAPLES AND NAILS protruding. We had legs torn up and scratched, tights torn, shoes are thrashed, one girl had her hand sliced open from the stapes. I love how they kept coming out and hammering the floor, pulling up the staples or putting duct tape over them....
And what was with the judges so far back and so low, then putting the 2 photoags right in the middle of the judges view.
I don't get it....

in the middle of everybody bashing USA (which i would too but i think everything i felt this weekend has already been said lol) i would like to say thankyou to Magic, Pride Athletics, Pace, CCG, and anybody i may have missed that was cheering for us [fierce legend] during our performance on day 2. it really meant a lot to us and i think helped us perform better because as its already been said, the vibe on day 1 just wasnt there since there was absolutely no crowd in front of us like at a normal nationals.. it was the first thing we said to eachother when we got off stage "did you see how nice the girls were from the other sm 5 teams!" we had fun this weekend.. it was definitely a challenge, and hoped for a better outcome but congrats to the teams that placed ahead of us! sm sr 5 is always a tough one! hope to see you guys soon before the season is over =)
Even the best of the best make mistakes in coaching and for you to come on this board with your arrogant attitude makes me angry. Full resposibility was taken for that mistake and you need to leave at that. As for your comment about Ca senior 5..... I thought they hit a great routine and I do think their program is amazing but I am one of probably many who didn't feed off their energy. Their routine was watered down so I wasn't as excited about their performance. Did they deserve to win? Probably but cheerforce was the team that I couln't take my eyes off of. And I must give Magic some love because they were awesome this weekened! I have to agree with the poster who commented on Ca's shirts. We all know you have a great program. Many are quite envious in fact and aspire to be like you. But a little humility will take you much farther. And you in return, will gain the respect your program deserves. That is just my opinion!

just saying... their attitudes and trite sayings on their shirts makes it seem that way.
cheerforce, pride, and magic were having a blast backstage and the ca girls were just staring and rolling their eyes. occasionally a girl would step in, but seconds later she would be called back by her team, as in on a leash. i don't know if that is the way that they like their gym to be represented, but thats the impression they are giving.
