RE: USA Nationals

I agree cheermom30 we need trained USASF certified judges who will actually look at the teams and say "who will do better at worlds"? a team that decides to add level 3 and 4 skills or a team that added everything and hit perfect?

I thought this was a terribly run competition.  This is my first time being at USA nationals, and now I know why people always bash them.  Waiting for the later awards took forever!  You would think after waiting all that time, and doing whatever they were doing, they would have at least announced things correctly.  Felt bad for CA Senior 3 that were announced wrong, but just as bad as being announced a winner in that division and finding out you actually lost.  When the bids were announced to teams that already had them, everyone looked really confused.
CA Small Senior-I thought you all looked great.  It is the best I have seen you all season.  Congratulations on your paid bid.
Fierce-You guys definitely stepped it up from day 1.  Loved your routine.
Magic-Incredible.  Loved the orange bows that you had from PC.  Added a whole new touch.  You all seemed to have so much fun this weekend.
OC-Your Junior 5 was fun to watch.  Great weekend.  Congrats on your bid!
Cheerforce-Personally thought they weren't "on" this weekend.  Great routine though.
Not sure how the whole bid thing works, but congratulations to all the winners.  Whether or not people think certain teams should have or shouldn't have gotten them, all those kids worked hard for it.  Let them prove themselves at Worlds.

Everyone goes to chase the bids, end of story. 4 at large and 2 paid is a GREAT opportunity for all 5 teams in california who are trying to get to worlds... But this competition and company will not change until there is some sort of scoring rubric with difficulty and execution as top priority. The only thing that was correct about this competition was that california sr. Elite and American coed deserved those paid bids.

Wow, what a rough weekend for PAC Seniors! The new stuff that kept hitting and hitting in practice at home and in warm ups just kept crashing in front of the audience and then tumbling miscues and ugh, ugh, ugh! Some of our kids said that the whole "vibe" of this comp just wasn't there for them to feed off of- energy could not be felt! It really was ok in the end though. Everybody knows that they really don't have much else to prove this season but keep working for Worlds. Everyone knows what they are capable of...even at this comp it was only Diamondz that had them at AG in Vegas last December.
The "gasps" around me were actually kind of funny to hear when things didn't hit from PAC Lions during their routine.

USA, USA, USA. Where do I even begin to start talking about how terrible this comp was with judging, the production, the whole set-up, the location. I wholeheartedly agree with some of the other postings about the judging. One comment from a judge on our dance was "more synchronous moves needed" and another said "more random moves needed" for the SAME exact dance. no This is the only comp that you win by taking difficulty out for I guess, "the sake of cleanliness"no.

How in the world could the judges even see that stage from way back there? They were not on a very high riser.  Then the stage was so low to the ground that it was hard for the audience to see the stage over and around other peoples heads! I don't know how the judges could see around the audience that well. Then there were the people that moved around during performances that probably DID BLOCK the judges view!

This so called "National" was more like a glorified regional competition. From the cheapo backdrop, the "white only" lighting, flat level seating, My own daughter said that the sound was not that great on the stage, I could go on and on. Just didn't seem fun and entertaining like other comps can be for the kids. We all could have saved some money and just set up a mat in a large park somewhere and competed! What a joke!

USA used to be really big...I can see why it is shrinking every year. People see the writing on the wall, especially with the judging. Believe it or not, this comp used to be filmed for television!!!!
I will beg our coaches and owners to not go to a USA event anymore!

Anyways, congrats to CA for finally "bringin' it" and getting their paid bid. Better late than never I always say! Congrats to our own J5 Jags for getting their bid too! Now all of PAC level 5 is going to Worlds!! I never, ever thought this little cheer club from Vegas would add up to this much talent and hard work....where the heck are they gonna get level 5 alternates now? Guess it is a good problem to have!

Good luck and love to all who competed this weekend at USA!smile

Okay, so I am new to these boards, and I cannot agree more with everyones feelings towards USA. They have a horrible way of scoring, and in my humble opinion, need to be "schooled" on how to judge.
As far as the bids are concerned, my OPINION is this; CA by far hit beautifly both days, and weather or not they "watered it down" doesn't matter, a win is a win,and they earned it, and deserved that bid.
As for the second full paid bid I TRULY in my heart felt like Magic should have received it. Nothing against American (they were incredible), but Magic was better all around. ALSO the at large bids... (this is where USA needs to be "schooled") talk about not doing your homework! PC Magic sm coed should have received that bid, they were amazing, and their routine was great, and they earned it.
Cheerforce was awesome both days, and their tumbling alone is second to none, always a pleasure to watch, and loved Rockies tick-tock turn stunt original, and different. Fierce was great on Sunday, and have really stepped it up this year, hard work seems to be paying off for them. Pac, always a crowd pleaser, I enjoy watching them, but they fell apartcry, we all have our days though.
We all need to stand together and not attend USA next season, its very disappointing when the placings/scores/awards are given out, knowing full well they are incorrect, and that isn't fair, usa doesn't desrve anyones business, or any of our hard earned money when our kids are not judged fairly.....

My Daughter and I have been at this competition since it was televised nine years ago. I was shocked when I walked into this event. How can girls warm-up their tumbling w/o a spring tumble track. HELLO!!!! We got deducted for a touch on tumbling when my Daughters hands slipped down to her shins. She never touched, if the judges were closer they might have noticed that, our JR 3 was not on the first day and deserved 2nd place in prelims. BUT the second day they were on and deserved 1st place. How can a team with 18 round off tucks be beaten by a team with back-hand springs and only a few tucks. Yes their team hit both days with their watered down basic routine, but come on, wake up and smell the coffee. We beat this team 3 wks ago at jams and they didn't even come close.

I agree with everyone on this competition they need judges who know what they are looking at up there and can score accordingly. This is a competition not a Vegas Show. Bring it on and lets see your best. If you hit it you win if you don't you won't, but don't appease us with your watered down crap and take first place with these BORING routines.

Congrats to everyone who won thier bid including our jr. 5 you were amazing. You worked so hard so hard all year and all the hard practices and tears finally paid off.

Loved meeting So Cal parents your girls are so good and an inspiration to us all. American Cheer WOW your teams are great and rock solid every time, great show.

Lions what can I say we know it was an off weekend, but it happens to us all. You will ROCK our world at Worlds. Can't wait to see all three of our teams fight the title of World Champion.

If CA is happy getting a paid bid because they watered down their routine then fine and they obviously knew they would if they just hit clean which is why i hate USA it's wrongful but good job CA for doing your homework

OMG! ELITE you freakin rocked it. 3 flawless performances. You guys are great for sure and you deserved that paid bit 100% Keep working hard and bring everything to the floor at worlds.

I just cant get enough of this stunt

Like are you kidding me? I usually HATE with a passion lib to stretch tic tocks, but they took it the a whole new level. Not only do they twist but they dont even grab the ankle on the lib foot like most of the other teams that do them do. You have no idea how proud i am of this team. They have come so far this season and are getteng better everyday. I dont even know anyone on here but i sure was at the side of that mat screaming my head off like a proud parent when they hit those stunts! lol Way to go cheerforce another great team. I cant wait to see what this team comes with a worlds, YOU ARE GOING TO WORLDS RIGHT?? Clean up this routine a little and i have no doubt that you will do AMAZING. Even with your stunt falls i thought you guys deserved better than 3rd, buts thats usa for ya laughing.gif . Keep up the great work.

Calicheerwatcher, thanks for showing ROCKIEZ some love. They are an great group of kids!!  I am so proud of them.  Aren't those stunts amazing?  I agree with you that they should have placed better just on tumbling and difficulty alone, but as you said is was USA.  I'm not sure what is was that the judges didn't like.confuse IDK....  Not to worry they will be at Worlds for sure.biggrin

ca is always getting bashed for "doing their homework." At spirit sports they did their homework...they knew they had to put difficulty on the floor and they did just that. They earned an at large bid when they had crashed and burned. Small seniors knew they would not be going to worlds if they did not have a paid. USA has been on their comp schedule since summer. It is where they have gotten their bid the past couple of years, why would they not go back??? Yes their routine was watered down, but would you have rather seen a performance from them like that of spirit sports or dallas and win the bid? NO! The thing is---people havent been happy with ca small seniors placements all season at EVERY competition they have been at. If youre so unhappy, dont bring your teams to compete against them. Cali's comp schedule is given out at tryouts...dont like that theyre attending a comp you might be, dont go. Then we wont hear after EVERY comp they didnt deserve their placement, they didnt deserve a bid, so and so was jipped, so and so was 100x better, id rather get second the right way than 1st the ca way. It gets old on both ends. Learn the scoresheets and adjust your routines for every competition. There are few big name gyms who dont alter their routines. Watering down a routine to get a bid is not wrong. Theyre playing by the rules and know what the judges are looking for.

WOULD ANYONE AGREE WITH ME????

i believe that this was, by the far, the most pathetic excuse for a "NATIONALS" competition that i have ever been to.

forget the placements, forget the bids, forget the "who watered down" non-sense.

i was reading many comments made about the judging and scoring system. and i believe that everyone is RIGHT!!!! so why do we keep coming back to USA competitions???

the venue was horrible...the sound system was elementary...the judges werent certified...the warm-up area was a joke...the award ceremony wasn't professional. i can go on and on and on...WOULDN'T YOU AGREE?

so why do we go????? let the world be done with ALL USA COMPETITIONS!!!!!!! take all the teams who were there just to chase bids to worlds...now take all the teams that were there just so that the teams in worlds categories would have alternates...are we done calculating??? lemme know what you come up with.

its like dating someone who treats you like dog crap, hits you in front of your friends, and verbally abuses you at home...yet we still date them. its time to DUMP USA for good. its a bad relationship for all-star cheer. now i know why SO MANY GYMS boycott USA competitions.

BOYCOTT USA COMPETITIONS!!!!!BOYCOTT USA COMPETITIONS!!!!!BOYCOTT USA COMPETITIONS!!!!!BOYCOTT USA COMPETITIONS!!!!!BOYCOTT USA COMPETITIONS!!!!!BOYCOTT USA COMPETITIONS!!!!!BOYCOTT USA COMPETITIONS!!!!!BOYCOTT USA COMPETITIONS!!!!!BOYCOTT USA COMPETITIONS!!!!!BOYCOTT USA COMPETITIONS!!!!!BOYCOTT USA COMPETITIONS!!!!!BOYCOTT USA COMPETITIONS!!!!!BOYCOTT USA COMPETITIONS!!!!!BOYCOTT USA COMPETITIONS!!!!!BOYCOTT USA COMPETITIONS!!!!!BOYCOTT USA COMPETITIONS!!!!!BOYCOTT USA COMPETITIONS!!!!!BOYCOTT USA COMPETITIONS!!!!! BOYCOTT USA COMPETITIONS!!!!!BOYCOTT USA COMPETITIONS!!!!!

USA is a sad excuse for a competition, and a last resort for gyms to get their bids otherwise they wouldnt even be going to your competiton. AND!!!!!!!! this year it was at the LA Convention center NOT because it was a larger venue and could accomodate the large scale of USA ALL STAR NATIONALS, NO NO NO NO NO...the attendance wasnt even that large. The Anaheim convention center was already scheduled to host another saporting event that could have more effectively use the large space alotted by the Anaheim Convention center. it just so happened to work out that the LA convention center was available due to cancelling of other events that were hosted there because of the down fall of our economy.

USA needs to stick to what they know best, HIGH SCHOOL CHEER circa 1980.

Get with the program USA, U Suck A$$.

YOUR TRADITION, BLOWS...your philosophy is a joke.

TRANSLATION: YA LATE!!!!!!!!

PLEASE RESPOST IF YOU AGREE...

and lets all join hands and BOYCOTT the UNITED SPIRIT ASSOCIATION!!!!!!!!!!!!!

hands down!   Not true, not true, not true, shame on you making such a statement based on one observation.  no   I too witnessed  the girls and some parents talking and hugging and taking pictures on Saturday so this is a bad opinion and a horrible post.

You can't make this statement ibased on the behavior of a few parents.  So even and I say even if this did happen in one area, we all know that as programs grow, there are always some parents who act with ill-behavior (for lack of using fowl language).  I know CA has these parents too, we all do.  Shame on Bulluetbaby for starting this drama on these boards again.  It should have never been posted to begin with!!!

which takes me back to my earlier post---i dont think it is the kids that have problems with one another, i think its a lot of the parents who get nasty. The kids are all there for the same reason. To have fun, compete, and hopefully win. There will always be rivalries but a lot of the time they are healthy. The rivalries between the kids are healthy, the rivalries between the parents are nasty. Thats my opinion on it.

So true. At Jamz there was a parent from a team (I won't say who) that called our girls "white trash" My mouth dropped to the floor. Why do parents behave so inappropriately. These are children out to learn how to be good sports yet the parents are just wrong.

I have met many parents from lots of teams over the last nine years and love seeing them year after year. Let all just be friends and love the sports.
