I don't think Ca is being favored. If they were, their jr 5 would have scored higher. I still think they got the short end of the stick there.

i just got back from dallas and i agree one hundred percent. i know ca jrs did terrible day 2 but they killed it day one there is no way they should have been in 2nd. also many many of the other teams from california not just california allstars were scored lower and placed lower than they should have. i am not suprised texas has never been a fan of the cali style.

wow, it seems like they are just giving out bids to any level 5 teams at this point :/

Becca I think this is a rather rude statement.  I normally come on here and speak positively, but this statement has come of as rude and a little ' I am better then you' .  Remember how hard you had to work and how long it took your program to be where they are at.  Every team deserves a chance to go to worlds.  No matter if they are going to win, make finals or just go for the experience, I dont think it is right for you to get onto this message board and say the above statement.  Every team has a history of what got them to where they are, I think you need to be a little more humble.

I think it comes down to a supply and demand issue.  With there being SOO many competition companies, there is a lot of supply.  There isn't enough demand to support the supply.  I wish companies would choose not to give out their At Large bids if they are passed down a certain number of times, but I understand why they do.

Nicole, I am personally sorry for what I said and I didn't realize exactly how rude it sounded. I know that i am not better than anyone else and don't want that to reflect my gym.
I'm also sorry if I have offended anyone, and congratulations to all bid winners!
I'm just shocked on how many teams from Dallas already had bids...which means it was obvioulsy some tough competition.
I believe that if teams work hard enough and go to enough competitions that give out bids they will eventually get one and really have the experience of a lifetime.

well my team bombed big time. we usually do pretty well, but this was a bad competition for us. we got last in the small limited coed division. our junior team did really well the second day and got zero deductions but since they started out at a 9.2 from day one they only moved up to 9th. Our small senior team got 13th, but there was a lot of stuff that happened that is factored into that.

I do think it is a little disappointing that bids seem to be so easy to come by. I am not, by any means, trying to diminish the quality or deservedness of any team but I do feel that a majority of level 5 teams will end up with at least an at large bid if they attend bid giving competitions. I understand that USASF wants a certain number of teams at Worlds but I think I would rather see an all level Worlds where there are truly on the top 10-20 from each level/division rather than the top 300 (or so) from level 5.

That said, I am very impressed and proud of all the teams this weekend!! Good job everyone!

You make an interesting point regarding the number of teams already having bids...that does imply how intense the competition truly was and how deserving so many of the teams (even with passed down bids) truly are.

Ca J4's pyramid, start to finish was illegal. Changed it for day 2, hit an amazing routine. So amazing that the judges were clapping. But still only came out with 3rd. Stingrays had mistakes on day 2. Even came to awards crying and ignored ca's jr 4 but still took first.

It is unfortunate that CA Jr 4's pyramid was just now considered illegal even though they used the same one to qualify for NCA Dallas.  Doesn't make sense that they would not have been given a warning as we all know other gyms have been given.  This junior team is made up of 100% winners; they did amazing with the new changes on day 2 and came back from last place to 3rd!  This fantastic team held their heads up high and showed incredible sportsmanship knowing that without the "penalty" they would have been in 1st place.

Oh wow. That makes the situation even worse. I didn't know they would have won with out the deduction. I was under the impression that stingrays would still have won because someone told me their raw score was still higher. But if cali would have wone with out the deduction it must have been tough for those girls. Great job for going out there and giving 2 great performances. And from last to 3rd. What a great comeback!

I missed a lot of my fave teams this weekends due to scheduling conflicts.  After a while I just couldn't jog the distance any longer LOL.

I really wanted to give a "hats off" to Cali Jr 4 girls.  Those girls pushed through what most would have classified as a major hurdle on Saturday.  They're performance on Sunday was incredible!  We are so proud of those girls.

And a huge THANK YOU from the bottom of the parents' and Jr 4 girls' hearts goes out to Cali owners, coaches, teams, parents and even competitors for the extra support, prayers and love showered on our girls over the weekend.  The support is always amazing but you knew they needed a little somethin extra this time.  For several of the kids, including my own daughter, it was their first NCA experince.  They all made sure it was a very positive and memorable experience for our kids.  The sky's the limit Jr. 4!

I also thought American's girls were so thoughtful to support our Sr. 4 girls!  Thank you so much!  Sr. 4 was scheduled to perform at the same time as Top Gun...and on Day 2, I might add (talk about luck of the draw! LOL). We rallied around the girls to show support but when I saw that sea of American bows in front of the stage I was simply moved.  Thank you so much! We couldn't get as close to you on the stage but rooted for you as well.  You were amazing!

BTW, I would absolutely love to see all California teams show unlimited support for one another, particularly at out of state comps... especially Worlds.  It's such an awesome sight to see and makes the teams feel so much more at home.  I know many already do, but just a little reminder.  wink

Let's keep spreading that Cali Love!!!

I really enjoyed this weekend.  All teams were amazing!

o i completley forgot to thank American cheer! thank you guys and gals for coming to support our sr 4 i ment the world to them :] and i gave them hat extra push to preform the best i have seen them all season!

i dont know if you could hear us cheering for you because that arena is so huge but we were all up there cheering for you. congrats on a great performance!

i also think it would be great if all the cali teams could join together at worlds and support everyone, its hard when you can only bring a few teams to a comp and then their is not alot of crowd support but we are one HUGE state, together we could be amazing!!!

A lot of divisions changed placings on Sunday because Saturday was worth 20% and Sunday was worth 80%. It was really all about how you did Sunday.

But if was all about how you did sunday, then how'd stingrays large jr 4 still manage to get first over UC airforce and CA??

I didn't get to see the level 4 teams but from the scoring it seems as though Stingrays raw score was indeed higher so even without the deduction I think Stingrays would have won. Here's a cut and paste from the NCA site:

RANK Team Name City State

Score Sub Total Point Safety Score Day 1 Score1 The Stingray All Stars Marietta GA

8.873 9.170 0.350 0.000 8.820 9.086 ALL LEVELS BID2 University Cheer Airforce, Inc. SkyRockets Houston TX

8.808 9.022 0.150 0.000 8.872 8.554 ALL LEVELS BID3 California All Stars San Marcos CA

8.631 8.922 0.000 0.000 8.922 7.468 ALL LEVELS BID4 Cheer Eclipse Starlites Wichita KS

8.605 8.724 0.050 0.000 8.674 8.3305 Cheer Legendz Cheetahz St. Louis MO

8.597 8.756 0.100 0.000 8.656 8.3606 Tiger Elite All Stars New Orleans LA

8.249 8.642 0.400 0.000 8.242 8.278The second number is the day 2 raw score (which seemed to be higher across the board than day 1). CA had a raw score of 8.922 while Stingrays had a raw score of 9.17. I don't have day 1 handy but they would have been similar and only 20% of the total.

i understand the scores. i just wonder how the judges got to them....
due to the fact that CA hit a perfect routine. UC hit a nearly perfect routine. but stingrays had significant mistakes.
