The comp was ok...I still do not like their warm up areas and lack of attention to the atheletes and competing teams but I'm guessing I won't be the only person to complain about that. In any case, I hope USA finds a better way to organize the layout and management of their competitions or the dissatisfaction will only continue and magnify over time. I still have a soft spot for USA and really hope they can pull it together!
highlights:
(I only came to warm up our team teams that went, and got to watch a few performances, but there were nonetheless, some great stuff)
FUSION: HAS NEW UNIFORMS!!!! and...i absolutely love them. My girls kept commenting on how cute their uniforms were, and I'm sure the whole place noticed when they walked in. I love the choice of colors and the placement of white to highlight. SO far, this is my favorite uniform, flashy without being over board or non utalitarian, after all, our kids are competiting right?!?! Uniforms should look great and be functional. In other news, I see great potential in their limited 5 team, with a bit more polishing this team will be unbelievably good. Great Job Fusion!
Airborne: I still can't get over how exciting their senior 4 team is. Every aspect of their routine is JAM PACKED with difficulty, from innovative standing tumbling and transitions, to their pyramid (of which is my fav level 4 pyramid). lol and i love the opening "i want the the single spotlight" yes yes yes!
NOR*CAL: I just love their overall signature style. Once you see their routines you immediately know, this is a nor cal routine, and you know its going to be good. Phoenix, has amazing tumbling this year, and the final pass is GORGEOUS! I really hope this team gets the recognition they deserve because I absolutely want to see this routine competed at worlds.
I usually try to not to talk about my gym, but i did want to congratulate our Junior 4 on their paid IALC bid, and our senior 3 on their win. Its been a crazy week, and I'm so glad you girls brought it all together to really shine on the mat. There's still a road to nationals and I can't wait to see how far we can push our routines through the rest of the season.
I don't understand why they set up this competition the way they did, alternating which way performers faced the crowd (Side A/ Side B). There was plenty of room for all spectators to sit on one side (especially since it was a small comp). Besides you had people walking back and forth the entire time. I like comps when things stop while teams performs (people are blocked from walking through) it puts more emphasis on the performers.
Fusion - I really liked their uniforms. Congrats to Sr. Level 2 open, Youth Level 2 and Jr. Level 3 teams. And they had some really nice parents.
Cheer Odyssey - You're Jr. Level 4 team was the hit of the day. The entire routine was entertaining and that tumbler was incredible.
Nor Cal - I always enjoyed watching them but unfortunately I've seen them have better days. But from what I understand they had a few bugs (illnesses) to deal with. However, they looked like they were having a blast being together during the mat change.
i have to agree and say that the A B side thing gets really old.
Very Old...USA has always done this. Parents are having to run from one side of the gym to the other to watch their teams who almost always are facing different ways!!!
Nor Cal premiered two new teams that weekend, their level 4.2 and their all girl level 4 team, both of those teams were midseason, and had only been practicing for about a month and a half before they were thrown out onto the floor, both with music that didn't match their routines, and the level 4.2 didn't even have a full routine, but I have faith in both of those teams, and I think within the next few months they will improve. I see a lot of talent, as always, with nor cal,
but I do agree that beyond that, there were some full season teams that were off their game that weekend, due to injury and illness.
