worlds bids passed down

does anybody know if companies are still doing this?? i know a lot of them did this a couple seasons ago.. but what about now??? if they award a bid to a team who already has one, do the bids go to the team who would have been awarded it next?

Say a competition is giving out 2 bids.

Team a scores 9.76
Team b 9.54
Team c 8.99
Team d 8.76

Team a and c already have bids. So yes the bids would go to team b and d if thats what you mean.

The example above is accurate.  That's not considered "passing down" a bid.

Let's add to the example.  Let's say that c's current bid is at large. At the next competition, c gets a paid bid, which they accept.  Then their at large bid goes away.  Two years ago, it would have then been offered to e (if there was one), but is no longer allowed.

oh yeahhh your right! thats what "passing it down" was considered... but i definitely meant the first one. i think i got the two confused because i knew something like that was allowed back then but now is no longer allowed. thanks though =)

At NCA last year, we saw a Co-Ed team that got 8th or 9th (second to last mind you) and got a "passed down" bid to Worlds...crazy stuff!confuse

That's not passed down.  (see above).  At a competition like NCA, it's quite likely that the top 8 or 9 will probably all be in the top 10-20 at Worlds.  So I don't see that as being any problem.

So what about this.

Say a competition is giving out 2 bids.

Team a scores 9.76
Team b 9.54
Team c 8.99
Team d 8.76

None of the team have bids so the bids go to team A and team B. Team a decides not to go to worlds and declines the bid. Is that considered passing down? Would the bid go to team c or does no one get the bid?

Assuming by decline, you mean they never formally accept the bid, then it will go to the next eligible team.
