i got so caught up in all this drama i forgot to mention how amazed i was by PAC small seniors. you girls were spectacular!! wow my jaw was open your entire routine :0! good luck at worlds and congrats on your paid bid you guys deserved it :]

No I agree. The scoring system was fair according to the rubric, it was how the judges scored that wasnt fair.

Another thing that was not fair was how one special team got to practice Friday night in the warm up room with all the doors locked. : / Yeah Maybe they needed it. But let everyone else too.

I hope that is not the case. That would be unfair to the rest of the participants in the competition. I do not blame California. I would blame Spirit Sports for giving special treatment! I hope that is just a rumor

There is a performance being left out of all this talk.

Desert Storm Elite's Special Needs Team. I want to say they are called Lightning.

If you saw this team, there is an individual performance that stood out and you know what I am talking about. This team was performing in the midst of Level 5 teams shooting for World's bids and in my eyes, this boy single handedly stole the spotlight from every other team that weekend in Palm Springs (with of course the exception of the OC teams :) ).

When he finished his cross pass and shimmied he had me put down my phone and pay attention. Most Senior level 5 teams that weekend couldn't do that. And then when he took a move that is starting to rise in popularity much to my displeasure (the head roll) and did it with such absolute fierceness I think I pee'd my pants just a little bit. It made me love the move, but only if he does it.

And when the team was done with the performance I stood up and cheered with everyone else.

He is my hero. If there is anyone from Desert Storm who reads these boards who knows who I am talking about I would love to hear stories about him in the gym. I imagine he is a fun personality and a joy to be around as well as an inspiriation to everyone there.

Thanks for bringing it back where it needs to be!! Was definitely my other favorite performance of the entire weekend (besides CA LU 5

. Shimmy/head roll/ last pass guy was my hero that day too and what a showman. I think I almost peed also and I know he and that whole team had me jumping all around. I didnt know where they were from but now that I do DS Lightning is definitely on my fav teams list!

Thanks for bringing up this performance Nelson, that young guy ROCKED the crowd! they had everyone up and out of their seats. I wish I got them on tape. Looking forward to the next comp. evileye

um, i'm sorry. I never said we weren't excited to get the full paid bid. i never said anything about not getting spotlight. we're perfectly happy with our full-paid bid whether it was announced in front of everyone or not. we did get an at-large at VOS, so we got to celebrate that one until we found out that we got the full paid. honestly, we're just happy we're going to worlds and for free. we're the first ever coed team from Arizona to get a full paid bid, and it's only our first year competing in a world's division. So please don't say that we aren't grateful for the full paid because 'we didn't get the spotlight" because that's completely untrue.

This is only PAC's second year and the company keeps growing and improving. smile

Also, thanks John from POWER. Just to let you know we were wondering why you didn't get a bid because that team did great. Your company is very thoughtful!

As for the rest of the drama, I personally think crossovers should not be allowed. That would make everything fair and eliminate scheduling problems as well. We can only wait for that day to come...

I just watched all the videos that 2008cheerfan posted, and I am very impressed with all the teams. From the "underdogs" to the "heavy-hitters", everyone looks awesome. PAC is off the hinges and have been since the beginning. Their dance section made me drool. Overall, the caliber of every team that I have seen thus far is some of the best talent I have seen, ever on the west coast. To watch all these great teams, and talented athletes is inspiring. I hope everyone can look past the cross-overs, past the drama, past the gossip and think about how hard everyone in this industry works. So next time you're at a competition, rather than keeping your antenna ears open so that you have something to talk about on the message boards, how bout you congratulate the athletes and the coaches. Without them, there would be nothing. So to all the cheerleaders and their coaches, great job on the most amazing season I have ever seen.

If you no longer have a child cheering, you shouldn't let CA or any other gym affect you so much; especially since you are not involved.

If you no longer have a child cheering, you shouldn't let CA or any other gym affect you so much; especially since you are not involved.

With all due respect I would like to say to you that just because I no longer have a child cheering does not make my opinion or thoughts any less valid.

Does a football fan have to have a child participate in the Super Bowl in order for him/her to get pumped up and excited about his/her favorite sport ?

Is the football fan not allowed to communicate on a football message board with other football fans just because he/she doesn't have a child on the football team ?

I knew as soon as I let it be known that my child no longer cheered, someone would come along and make this statement.

Why do feel that it is okay for you to tell me that I should no longer be affected just because my child is no longer cheering.... that I should no longer be allowed to voice my opinion just because you think so ?

I am not angry or upset with you for saying this. I just want to know why people on message boards feel that it is their duty to inform other posters of who,what,and when they should be allowed to post or not to post.

I am only directing this at you because you directed your post to me in regards to my child no longer cheering. If it wasn't you it would have been someone else.

So much drama....
Besides all the special treatment going on at this competition (the collaborative proof is a list long), I feel that the athletes performed their hearts out this past weekend, and EVERY program impressed me in some way or another. :) As for someone saying that Troy told his girls they got jipped, no, that was ME. I walked over to his small 5 and told him that. I deserve an opinion, and it was just that. Whether or not you agree, I could care less. Troy, congrats on your bid. Someone stated earlier "drama with magic or fierce"... There is no drama with Fierce. We never said we got jipped or that we should have placed higher. Our girls knew their placement and knew what they needed to do to move up. And that's just what they did with a brand new partner stunt. I was closing my eyes when the tic toc to stretch came up. WHEW!
