i'm not going to say anything about favorites exactly, but i do not think the scoring system was fair.

No I agree. The scoring system was fair according to the rubric, it was how the judges scored that wasnt fair.

Another thing that was not fair was how one special team got to practice Friday night in the warm up room with all the doors locked. : / Yeah Maybe they needed it. But let everyone else too.

Okay so apparently we have cross posted. Now I will quote your answer to me here so that I may reply to you.

Why did California Allstars Sm Coed enter a bid division in Vegas when they had no intention of going to worlds ?

because they would rather compete against people and win then not compete against anyone and win. stop complaining they gave you a bid, you should be happy

So my reply to you is this
They were wrong to do this because:

1. When a gym chooses to enter a worlds category it is for the SOLE purpose of competing for a "Worlds Bid" American Championships created a "NON Worlds Division" for teams NOT competing for a Worlds Bid.

2. The 2nd place team which should have been the first place team was unable to celebrate their moment because California Allstars were intentionaly entered into the wrong category because as you said,"They didn't want to compete by themselves."

This is beyond selfish.

everything california allstars ever does will only cause drama with you people. im so sick of my gym, my second home, my favorite place in the world being criticized. sm sm coed wanted competition, they didnt want to go all the way to vegas to not compete against anyone. i can not believe you are calling them selfish when they gave you a bid they clearly deserved, your being the selfish one when you say they should not have compete against anyone because they dont want to go to worlds just so that you could be able to celebrate a win and a bid that you really did not deserve.

They shouldn't have but there's no rule against it. It should be about ethics but CA does whatever they want. Including waiting 3 weeks to decllne a full paid bid that should have been declined in 72 hours. Not only one bid but they declined it again after it was given to their small coed in fact. Lets face it CA competes in the worlds division knowing they won't take the bid but if they do receive and decline it, it might be given to another one of their teams. At least this time they didn't wait 3 weeks to decline it. Now that's progress. /blockquote>

What I've learned about reading these boards over the years, is that people like to complain... A LOT. If it's not one gym, it's another. You just can't please everyone.

So, keep working hard and good luck at Worlds to all of you who have bids.

You don't tell any team (who's head you want in the game.) "We don't think you need to know if your good enough to qualify for Worlds so we aren't going to let you even try to prove it.... You let them go for it.....

The Sm Limited Co-ed is a great team, but they don't get much respect.

The issues blocking this team from attending worlds have been known from day one, so it's not a surprise.  But this team always had hope that something would change if they proved themselves and if more people joined CA. Well they have proven themselves, over and over again.   But when you join CA you join a program. Not a team.

Only 6 people on the Sm Limited Co-ed are going to worlds maybe 7 with a different teams. But the rest have been in cheer 6 to 8 years and getting an at large bid at the Grand meant a lot to them. Then to be the highest scoring team and awarded a Full Paid Bid and not be able to go.   Has anyone thought of how much that has emotionally impacted the team known as the "Step children". They always knew the crossover issue was there to stop them from going to worlds. But when your team is awarded a full paid bid, and you consistently perform and win, you just hope someone will see your value and make it happen for you.  CA is a great program...I just wish they were willing to look at all there Worlds level teams equally.   Where there's a will, CA usually has a way.

At least the Sm Co-Ed know they are good enough to get a Full Paid Bid to Worlds. (Which was given up immediately so another team could be awarded it).   Great for that team. But so sad for the other 14 Sm Limited Co-Ed members who have lost out on the opportunity to go.

And even though you know the Worlds issue up front, it doesnt make it any easer to deal with when your faced with it....

I agree completely. Unfortunately is was CA's large co-ed team that received the full paid at Grand and waited weeks to decline the bid that then went to their small co-ed team who then declined it right away. So it went to AZ power Xtreme. If the owners of CA would have handled it within the 72 hours none of this would be an issue but they did not. American Grand should have insisted that CA respond within the 72 hour deadline. They didn't do their job either. So, there you have it. 2 wrongs don't make a right. AZ got the paid bid so something good did come from this. Just later than it should have. Perhaps AZ Power was treated like the step child by American Grand?

so you guys are saying that NCE got a handed down bid? I don't understand why NCE keeps trying to attend worlds if all they can recieve is a handed down bid rather than a bid they earn one their own.

I had previously to the Spirit Sports comp made the choice for my gym that I was not going to take my Senior International All-Girl to WORLDS.

After Day 1 we were in 1st in the COED Division (only all-girl team so we went head to head with the COED teams) I was approached Saturday evening again to confirm that my team was not going to accept the international bid had we had the score to get it. I again said no...

The reason I stated to Spirit Sports staff was that is was unfair of my gym to take the bid when I knew we were not going. It would eliminate the opportunity for another gym to get the chance to go to WORLDS.

The part that fired me up BIG TIME is the announcer not once but TWICE on Sunday saying how great California was to give up a bid and give some other team a chance to go to worlds. Not even one mention of my program doing the same... Why is that? Mhmmm...

The fact is that both CA and POWER knew going in we had to many crossovers on those teams to mathematically make proper substitutions from other teams and still be competitive in the divisions we would have received bids in at WORLDS.

There should have been nothing said regarding our decisions to not accept bids. How it was handled to me deminished the outstanding job Pride Athletics did and took some of the luster away from their BID. They deserved to have all the glory, NOT oh by the way since this team had tooo many crossovers your team gets the bid.

Great Job PRIDE Athletics you guys were awesome!

. Any bid that is given obviously is earned. FYI. The only bids that can be 'handed down" as you put it are partial paid or full paid bids. I think any team would take one of those "handed down" bids; they are worth more than an at large. Wouldn't you? i know I would.

How ever you get there, you get there. No I disagree with this statement. The "Journey" to worlds is important too.
Why would any gym owner want to take away the "Spotilght" from those teams.
This was their MOMENT TO SHINE and it was taken from them out of arrogance and selfishness.

It's all about what your team does once your at worlds that matters.
Once you get to worlds then it will come down to whoever hits their routine the best.
Maybe they have had some bad luck so far. But they might blow your socks off at Worlds. Who knows... Good luck to everyone who has a bid.
