RE: SPIRIT SPORTS (DUEL AT THE DESERT)

This happened on the Jr 5 Coed Division. I just want a little clarification. If it's okay to do then it's ok, I just wasn't sure.

This was definitely the longest weekend of my life, for sure... and there's definitely a lot to be talked about. :]

First of all... I got to make a shout out to the coaching staff of Titan Elite. Their senior 3 and senior open 4 SERIOUSLY killed it. Like no joke! I was hoping senior 3 would take it against California... it was just so close!!! And for reals, senior open 4 is amazing... I closed my eyes in the pyramid during the full ups, because I couldn't watch it... and it stuck!!! Casey, Adam, and Brent... ya'll are off da hook. (and I wasn't kidding about the shoes, LOL.)

American... amazing energy. I've always loved this gym. Co-ed was very entertaining to watch as always. :)

The small senior 5 division was loaded and "the little things" ended up making all the difference in placement switching. The top 6 definitely hit the rubric "best" and most correctly and it showed in the placements. I felt that everything ended up pretty accurate. I was very happy for Magic, seeing how hard they have worked all season long. They deserved that top 5 spot. Hopefully more videos pop up!!! East Elite really worker it out... and definitely deserved the top spot. Their whole program was impressive!

California Flyers senior 4 was awesome on day 2. I did not get to watch them on day 1. Shelly is so creative... I'm jealous! Arizona all stars, 3rd place team was amazing on day 2 as well. Full ups in their partner stunts. I heard they had a really bad day on day 1. Deductions killed this division. My senior 4... WHEW! I was so worried about some of the difficulty we added for this competition, and it hit both days, with only a few "bobbles". So proud of my Legacy girls. :)

Cheerfan08, I know you video taped more teams than what is already up. I saw you!!! Will you be posting more?

There's so much more to be said... but I'm still tired. LOL.

Wow! Spirit sports sound like it was amazing from beginning to end. Just wondering if any one has any of the level one and two results? Or any videos?

Just something random for everyone... When California's large senior 4 won their division and walked up to take their picture with the banner, the "DJ" at the competition played "California Love." Just that part of the song and then shut it off. Funny!

Although I understand the whole crossover thing they have going on bewtween teams at California As, I really do think small coed would do great at worlds in that division. I'm not saying they should take them, because I know they wont and have already made that decision, but they would do well at Worlds. Too bad they can't replace the kids that crossover with others so that they could go.

I would think that it might be hard replacing the boys. San Marcos advertized that they were looking for more boys for the Unlimited team. So to leave the boys on the limited team would only impact the unlimited team who are short of the max. boys needed now. If everyone knew going into this that the boys would remain on unlimited and were competing with limited to give them a better team overall, then fine. That was a choice that the gym/team made. To add kids from other teams would not be the same as you could not replace the boys. Yes, with the current people on the team, they may do well at worlds but it's those people who can't do two teams at worlds. I don't know the overall number of crossovers, but I believe the issue is the boy crossovers and you really don't want to take a team that got a bid with a bunch of crossover replacements that in the end don't even look like the original team that got the bid. I saw that at Worlds last year and I wondered if the bid company was upset at how they got played like that. Perhaps CA shouldn't put them in a "Worlds" division since they know that they will not accept the bid. This would prevent the questions. They would be just a good limited coed team that gets Grand Championship Awards and doesn't wish to go to Worlds, which is exactly what they are. They put the Unlimited team in a "Worlds" division at Las Veges and they didn't accept the bid either. Now regarding the Sm Sr team, they are warriors. What 2 major injuries on the floor on day one and still in top three? I heard they had the highest score on day 2 in that division. That division was jammed packed with talent. Especially the top 5, Wow. While I understand Fierce and love the girls, they didn't measure up to the top 5 and I think deductions made the scores close(?) but there was a difference in the level of talent and overall ability after the top 5. All I can say is those coed divisions should work on stunting. It's fun to watch the show and all the tumbling but it's starts to look like a circus. One coed team I enjoyed was that one from Washington. They had a overall package that was a mix of skill, talent and entertainment. Too bad they ran out of steam during the pyramid.

I totally understand why they are not going, but why did they even compete in the worlds divisions at grand if they knew they werent taking the bids???? Thats 3 at large bids and a paid bid that could have went to other teams. Thats like a slap in the face to everyone else. If you knew you werent going to worlds why not give someone else a chance?

I am a little confused regarding this competition. I noticed that a coed team performed on Saturday with one boy, but on Sunday that same team came out with 6 boys. Is that normal for a team to do? I really don't think that is fair? Can some of you veteran cheer folks explain.

Which Team?  I would think that wasn't fair.  It couldn't have been in the Senior divisions because that would change which division they were in. hmmm   Interesting.

Woah thats weird, what team was that???? Ive never heard of a team doing that. Why not compete with the same team you competed with on day 1?? I guess what ever it takes to win.

What 3 at large bids were turn down? I only know of the paid bid that was turned down "officially" by the unlimited coed? Are you talking about jrs, jr coed and sm limited coed? Not sure if any or all of those were turned down. But yes, that would not be right to me either if you know going into the comp that you are not going to accept the bid. If you do, then don't go in the worlds division. I can see though why the bids would not be accepted because of the crossovers on those teams but perhaps they thought that they could make it work. I would hope that they didn't do it to screw other teams out of a bid, but that really shouldn't be their concern should it? I mean seriously it shouldn't but I can see your point.

It was California all stars junior coed on the second day they brought out more boys they were in last place at the time and because they added more they pushed magic and desert storm out of there top two spots its wrong
