hmmm, the only thing i dont agree with is the adding of a senior open 5 division. i liked seeing older girls in the air this year. its made me appreciate the level of stunting. full ups/tick tocks are extremely difficult with the girls having to base girls who are much closer to their size. but, if they do end up adding a senior open 5 i can see that becoming another division at worlds. that would be a shame since there are too many already.
Back in Alabama after an enjoyable day (except for leaving the house at 5:00 this morning).
I don't know for sure that the webcast was taped to be available for replay, but I believe it will be.
The best part of the day was actually the roundtable sessions that weren't included on the webcast. Joelle told me that the summaries of each discussion will be posted on usasf.net, but I don't know exactly when.
I was very impressed with the scholarship program that Gena rolled out. Please note that if you or someone in your gym wants to apply, February 1 is the deadline. The applications are available at usasf.net or you can email Gena Evans at gevans@usasf.net. Make sure nothing in your video or essay identify the gym you are with; including banners, trophies, backdrops, etc.
Here are some of the non rules issues where there SEEMED to be consensus:
1. a universal score sheet for all event producers; or AT LEAST a USASF suggested score sheet 2. a formal judging certification program to include multiple layers (certified for locals, regionals, states, nationals, etc.) 3. better process for submitting rules change suggestions and fairly broad condemnation of the process for allowing the 4.2 division (not the division itself) 4. More transparency in scoring, judging, rules enforcement and World bid awarding.
I asked Jim Chadwick about the venue arrangement at Worlds. He said the dance teams would be at the same place as last year. The American senior divisions and the international divisions will be at the two Wide World venues. He said that would allow people to go back and forth between the two venues to be able to see a number of the international teams as well.
Steve Peterson reconfirmed that there will continue to be 3-4 special needs teams at every Worlds.
What about the age? Are they moving it down or up, I didn't get a chance to see it, So let me know details , please and thank you
They are voting to move the cutoff from May 31 to August 31.
So what exactly does that mean? You have to be younger or can you be older now? I'm still confused!
The rules currently state that your age as of May 31 is your age for the entire next year. If the cutoff is moved to August 31, then it will eliminate 3 months of people from being in that group.
Example: your birthday is June 15 and you will turn 13 on June 15, 2009. If the rule change DOESN'T pass, you will be 12 for the 2009-2010 season. If the rule change DOES pass, you will be 13 for the 2009-2010 season.
