Yay!!! Thats exciting. I saw them earlier this season and i loved them. They have so much talent. Im happy they won.
Thanks Cali Cheer Watcher!!! It was so exciting!!! But now were back home and back to reality. The other cheer gym in our small town that was in our division sent out a team wide text saying JAMZ messed up and we were suppose to get 2nd place not 1st.. Its not like we don't have the score sheets to prove we won... So now their girls are texting our girls saying we should not have won...Its all kind of sad but what can you do... We are just really happy with the way our team performed...
After watching videos I thought that all the teams that got bids did great but I think I would have leaned towards Nor Cal for the paid bid. Overall their skill level was higher than So Cals and their routine was more energetic it seemed. Did anyone who was there feel that way?
Congrats to all!
I don't agree. I thought SoCal's routine was more creative, more complete and overall executed to a higher degree....Stunts for So Cal were solid (yes one fell, but the rest didn't wobble around) Tumbling was cleaner...overall, a better routine. I loved the heel stretches on the ground to load the stunt for So Cal. Just saw some things I've never seen before.
I thouht American's routine was kind of plain, but I thought they did a really good job performing it.
So cal did not have any stunts fall. The one stunt did bobble in the full up and that was it. I thought that Nor Cal had amazing energy. I think that So cal had a little bit more difficulty in their opening stunt and their jump section. Both teams did an amazing job. So Cal came through, even though they has 2 broken arms the week before Vegas. I wish both teams the best.
so cals routine reminded me of last years..very similar and its the exact same stunts i believe but sorry if im wrong
the only thing the sane in the stunt as last yers was the flip i believe. Last year they did the little flat back thing then the flip to stretch then the kick double from the ground to bow n arrow. This year they just did the flip to the switch up heal stretch from the ground.
So Cal & Nor Cal --- both teams going for the bid, both teams competing against each other, I'm sure stress level was high. YET, they were on the side of the mat cheering each other on, that was wonderful to see. Good luck to BOTH gyms. Nice to see "friendly competition" still exists.

your thinking about 2007 worlds. last year they did the same thing but it still looks nice! all of their flyers are pretty in the air!
JAMZ: I know the awards seem forever long, but you really do know how to make every athlete and program feel special. All JAMZ staff are great people... from the coaches area to the warm up room. I love how they put the athletes at ease before they performed (ex: having silly contests with them, chellenging them to an energy-off). They are so courteous to the coaches, making us all feel like equals. I truly do appreciate their kindness and energy all weekend long. I know it was a long 5 days for them also. :)
Cheer Odyssey:Definitely one of my favorite programs of the whole weekend. Genuinely GREAT coaches, athletes, and parents from this program. Energy on the floor.... umm, AMAZING! They definitely had me watching their senior 3 both days. :) I've always been a huge fan of this program... and always will be.
NorCal: Not only was Coed 5 was amazing, but so was the rest of their teams. They really have this sass about them that is completely untouchable. I always enjoy a good NorCal show.
ACE/Infinity: WOW! There was a level 2 team that went on sometime shortly after my junior 2 went on... and I could just tell by watching them, that the rest of their teams were going to be solid, and they were. Coed... WOW! Just, WOW! They definitely had the whole arena watching. And can I just add, I love the uniforms. Very unique.
Cali Int. Coed: Robbie you stole it hunny! On Sunday, you had the whole upper deck (coaches section), yelling at the top of our lungs. I love the new parts of the routine, it all looks good.
As for FIERCE... we had a great weekend. Our baby team, youth 1 took 3rd on Friday, my junior 2 and our senior 3 took home National Champions, senior 2 - a close 2nd, small 5 - 2nd to the amazing Pride Lions, and my senior 4 took home 2nd place with our major broken foot injury. And since everyone is talking about that I'll give the shortest version of the story as possible... One of my athletes on junior 2 had emergency surgery on Thursday before we left for Vegas, and obviously had to be replaced... so her AMAZING sister, Miss Alexa Perry (center dancer on senior 4) stepped in and learned the routine in warm ups on Day one. Junior 2's routine isn't easy... but she worked it out and they hit near perfect on day 1. Day two rolls around with junior 2 in first place. We're on the full spring floor, (the one you have right before you perform), and one of the H-clips that hold the wood together under the mat had slipped and was sticking out of the floor. (Hard to explain, but that's the best I can do.) Well, we had just finished an energy routine, and Alexa steps off the floor to get in line to perform, slips on the H-clip and rolls her foot pretty badly. Needless to say, this chick is a trooper. Not only did she perform 5 minutes later with junior 2 in a black ankle brace ... she also performed later with her "home" team, senior 4 on a broken foot. "I won't be replaced. If they are going to cast it, they're going to have to wait a few days anyway, until the swelling goes down" ... her own words. She is definitely an amazing athlete and we love her to death. JAMZ staff had her cracking up in her wheelchair... saying "If we had a myspace we would definitely put you in our heroes section." LOL.
Well, that's enough for now... it was GREAT seeing everyone. Megan

SoCal stunt is very similar to lasts year. This year they dont have the kick double over in there. They did add the element of moving stunts for this year.
lol..."I won't be replaced. If they are going to cast it, they're going to have to wait a few days anyway, until the swelling goes down." WHy is that the best line ive ever heard in my life? It's totally going on my facebook in my quotes section as...
"I won't be replaced. If they are going to cast it, they're going to have to wait a few days anyway, until the swelling goes down" -fierce diva of the infamous tranny dance!
i have kids who get a bruise and the world is over. I had no idea she was hurt and was telling everyone from our staff what an amazing dancer she was.
moreover, great job this weekend, a 2nd to Pride ATHLETICS is something to be proud of because both of your programs are ridiculously fierce. good luck on the rest of your season, u truly were AMAZING in VEGAS, I can not wait to see ur teams again!
LOL. Thanks for telling my story for me Megan, and to Coach B.. THANK YOU!
I appreciate all the positive comments : ) It was real hard competing on it even without tumbling, but I really was not letting anyone fill in for me! Haha, anyways it was a really crazy weekend but it's those positive comments like yours that make me glad I didn't choose to not go : ) Thank you so much. Look forward to seeing you at future competitions!!
I actually video taped both days of Nor Cal and So Cal, also of CA International. What a great show this weekend. You can find them on Youtube. NCE Phoenix 09
haha i wish ace would have hit that stunt!!!!!!! they were really good :] cant wait to see them at worlds
...anyone know the little blonde ones name?! he's legit!!!
His name is Alston. He is just amazing. He really is an ideal point dancer and has great showmanship. Just type in "Infinity Titans" on youtube to see more of Alston and the rest of the Titans... Hopefully they will make the top 10 at worlds since this is Titans last year being called Titans (they're labled as Ace on schedules now, but they still got the Titan cheer and VO's). It's going to be interesting to see how well Ace of Atlanta does next year and what lvl 5 teams will they have.
ACE/INFINITY, amazing! The only thing I did notice is how the routine seemed to be missing some type of signature flair, however that was definitely made up for with their amazing skill sets and jam packed routines. I'm sure with a bit more tweaking they'll be worlds ready and a force to be reckoned with.
I know exactly what you're talking about. Last year, they're JC5 team just had an explosive routine from begining to end with over 15 baskets, nice stunting sequence, strong pyramid and entertaining dance. Their large limited team is just missing a little something, something. After the exhibition I went to earlier last year at their gym, they took a great deal out of their opening. I am not sure if they're waiting for worlds to put that stuff or new stuff in, but I think they need more of an explosive opening. They full up 6/7 stunts (another stunt or two wont hurt either) and have solid flyers. Good timing on their jumps and I like that they have the guys doing doubles through the middle of their jumps. Good tumbling (might need another girl or two to develop a double), but more sync passes will help. The cheer is alright, but it can be change for the better. I would like if they put another stunting sequence up instead though. Good baskets, especially the blonde boys. Great pyramid and very creative. The dance looks really good from a front view angle. The middle group really does their thing...... I kind've had a lot to say about them mainly, because I have some family members that had/still cheer there (My niece is on Ace/Titans mini 2 Jamz National Champions!!!). As long if they're consistent they should do well.... SO Cal did very well and I am very much impressed with them too. They should do very well at worlds. And Cali is Cali, just GREAT!
I have to give a shout out to JAMZ staff....CheerTyme had a rough week (not in performances or placings) and JAMZ staff really took care of us. They are a great group of people!! I don't think I could have made it through the week without their support and care!!
