Why, because it is impossible to believe they would get 2nd?

no not necessarily.. they have amazing choreography that no other level 5 team could even compare to in california, their difficulty is out of this world so i was wondering if they had a bad day.. it doesnt mean ONE isnt a good team its just that POWER is an amazing team all around!

POWER had some stunt issues.  I only saw video of One's routine from San Jose last month but did see them live today and it was amazing.

very very impressed with One overall today.

Power's Sr Lev 5 had a bad fall in a stunt. Their Lev 5 International Team was amazing, my favorite of the day. More favorites -- UCF's Sr Lev 4; I'm happy they have a strong level 4 team this season, they will be hard to beat! One's Sr Lev 5 looked fantastic today, much better than their showing in San Jose. Really enjoyed Cheergym's AA Sr Coed Lev 5 routine, great job and congrats to them.

A few negatives -- the seating was horrible. I thought the floor seating at San Jose was bad, but this was far worse because of the blocked middle section. If your gym performed on stage you could go down to the front of the judges and watch; otherwise you sat in the stands either on the right or left side of the stage. Another negative, not enough room on the stage for the participants during the awards. Power won in one of their divisions (can't remember which) and didn't get to have their picture taken with the banner because there wasn't room I guess? They need to split the awards so everyone can sit on stage. Lastly, it was very hard to understand the announcer during the awards.

Overall it was an enjoyable day, some amazing talent on that stage today, lots of fun to watch!

Thoughts:

3 Special needs teams today!  All amazing. Hats off to Pyramids, POWER and All star elite for what you are doing for these kids!

FAME- very impressed overall.  Very clean with fun routines.  Loved the uniforms.

Cheergyms teams- Loved the new uniforms (espeically motions).  loved the routine from Motions senior L3.  surprised by the lack of level 5 tumbling performed by All American small senior 5.   overall not impressed with the L6 open co-ed.  Nice tuck baskets but otherwise thought the routine was very shaky.  Co-ed 5 was great.  Loved the dance.

UCF- So love watching their senior open L4. You get so much personality from those kids. What a strong team. They earned that 1st place.  Senior 2 had a few stunt issues but was very good otherwise.  It's a great routine.

One- Very impressed overall today.  I'd also give this gym the congeniality award.  Senior 5 was very exciting.  seems to to have improved so much from their last comp.  L6 Open co-ed had me gasping. In a good way.  Best level 6 team I've seen in a while.

Royals- Junior 4 has a great routine.  Senior 4 Co-ed- seems to me that they are better suited for  level 3.  Not a fan of the new uniforms.  They look very similar to last season.

Venue- floor seating is terrible!!!

Can I just say first off, that the day was a great day and the demonstration on the floor was so enjoyable to watch.

POWER - you have to love them and you have to fear them at every level.  There probably isn't one team out there that looks forward to having to compete against this club.  it is true that some of their squads has a few falls today, but I could bet money that the next competition things will be quite different. :)

CHEERGYMS - another gym (2 gyms) that you can bet the challenge of a great competition will take place.  I loved your new uniforms.  The style was the same for every gym - all american - college, but you changed still managed to keep every group their own.  way to go!

FAME - I really enjoyed your teams this weekend they both lots of energy and the routines were enjoyable to watch.  I second the opinion on your uniform.  it is also a great look for a all-star team.

NORCAL - quite impressive today.  The teams are really starting to feel comfortable with their routines and these routines will only get better foresure.

AERIALS - Your level 3 team is very strong and seems to be quite consistant this season.  the uniform is a new look for you  as well for you this season.  I think it's a little over done but hey you're the one's that have to wear them and if your kids love the look that's all that matters.

SILVER SPIRIT -  So impressed with your mini 1 team.  I've seen this team at 3 different competitions now and I don't think anyone is going to beat this team this season.

ROYAL - Junior 4 is looking like a strong team.   I have to agree that maybe that Senior Co-Ed should be a level 3.  the stunting is a bit shaky and they seem as if they are trying too hard to make it work.

ONE - Fantastic job senior 5 and the college teams.  I really enjoyed watching the college performance.  They looked like they were all having a great time out there.

UCF - I really do love that Senior Open 4 team.  Everyone was taking about that routine today around me.  The routine is so unique that they have are no longer just an all-star team.  Everyone now knows their name.  They perform that routine like it's fun and that's how it's supposed to be.  I also agree that their Senior 2 routine is a great one as well.  It was a shame that they dropped their pyramid because they could have easily walked away with another first place win.

ALL-STAR ELITE - absolutely adorable girls.    I really enjoy their energy they demonstrate on the floor.  They are working some really difficult skills on their senior open 3.  I would expect by nationals they will be someone everyone needs to pay attention to.

My only negative comment of the day:
there were so many other teams out their today and I didn't get to see them all because I was sneaking out to do a little holiday shopping.  BUt when I returned I was disappointed to hear that the EDGE was trying to recruit other gyms cheerleaders.  All I have to say is, not cool.  Not cool at all.  The coaches has their cheerleaders tapping the shoulders of other cheerleaders and asking others to consider their program next season.  Competitions should be a neutral ground and everyone needs to let everyone be.  It's going to be tough for a team like the EDGE to break ground in the all-star world anyway but stuff like this is only going to make it worse for them.

Oh and one more negative:
I really didn't like the awards ceremony.  The announcer was rather boring and they the way they announced the cheer, high school, dance champions was quite uneventful.  They had all the teams exit the follow before the class champions were announced.  iT was odd.  The announcer was left on the stage holding the trophy himself.  Not very exciting at all.

All of the teams did a great job today.

I have to agree with some of the threads regarding venue.  The seating was awful.  The annoucer made mistakes in annoucing teams names, example Athletic Performance when it is Athletic Perfection.  At the end of the first awards ceremony he completely forgot about Senior Open International Level 5 who happen to be the only team left on the stage.

I'm not sure what happen with the judging today, but there was an incorrect calling in the L3 Small Senior Open. Power actually placed 1st not 4th. Congradulations girls!

I hope that some of these hicups are fixed at the next GSSA competition in San Jose.

One more thing to add.... Athletes and parents there is a reason why the annoucer ask you to enter and exit from a certain direction.  Please learn to follow directions.  It is very rude to stand infront of people trying to watch the competition from where they are seated.  Also you will be able to get to the cheering section quicker if you were to go with traffic instead of against traffic.

Have a safe week everyone....the rain is coming!

Well thank you very much! We did have a LOT of fun out there today. It was my very first performance doing college level skills and competing on a co-ed squad so it was very exciting! It was just the icing on the cake that we placed first at our very first competition. Thanks to all that stayed an watched!
