The Northern California All Star Alliance has partnered with several major event producers to establish a college scholarship fund for Northern California All Star Cheerleaders.
Donations to the NCAA Scholarship Fund have been made by Varsity, JAMZ, JAMBRANDS, CHEERSPORT, GSSA and each of the 20 gyms included in the NCAA. The NCAA Scholarship Fund Committee has two main objectives. 1. To provide a scholarship fund specifically for Northern California All Star cheerleaders to assist them in furthering their education beyond high school. 2. To provide a written Scholarship Guide to help all cheerleaders looking for colleges/universities offering cheer programs and/or scholarships.
Our committee has put together two packages to help meet these objectives. All gyms in the NCAA will be receiving the scholarship application packet via email next week to print out and distribute to all eligible seniors and super seniors in their gyms. In order to make sure that all eligible All-Star athletes have access to the packets we are hosting a booth at these four events:
GSSA December 13th- Sacramento JAMZ January 11th - UC DAVIS Spirit Spectacular January 17th- Sacramento Athletic Championships January 31st and February 1st- San Mateo
At these events, volunteers will be available to answer your questions about the NCAA Scholarship Fund, and distribute the NCAA 2008-2009 Scholarship Guide and the NCAA Scholarship Application. We are also looking for parents of All Star Cheerleaders of all ages to partner with us by making donations to the fund while visiting our booth. Through the donations and cooperation of the event producers, the gyms within the NCAA and your help we can make a difference for athletes who have participated in our amazing sport throughout the years. If your gym is a member of the NCAA, your gym director will be receiving the packet this week. If your gym is not a member you can look for the application/packets at one of the four events above or contact the committee at norcalalliance@aol.com. All details of the criteria for the selection of the recipients will be available in the packet and not on the message boards in an attempt to minimize any misinformation or speculation.
We are so thankful to all the participating event producers, and the gyms contributing to the NCAA Scholarship Fund for the 2008-2009 season. We have worked hard to continuously improve upon the standards of excellence in our industry. The NCAA Scholarship applications will be due by February 15th and all scholarships will be awarded at the GSSA Nationals on March 22nd, in San Jose.
