RE: American Championships Results Thread Pt. 3

I think so too. It wouldnt be the first time they messed up today. They messed up the placement for the mini Ap and Power teams too, did u see that AP's mini team had to come back and get awarded 1st place during a diffrent awards ceremony? I hope everyone read their scores and deductions carefully like im sure AP did.

Really, what happens to the team that recieved first on the stage at the earlier awards??

1. i would like to say on behalf of our whole organization thank you to all who supported us this weekend, and a big thanks to cf! the staff and athletes here at nor cal appreciate it.

2. nor cals team names are a nor cal "thing" not a "roy thing". while we do appreciate everything roy has done for the program in the past we are still nor cal  and will remain nor cal no matter who the coaches are.

3. for the comment asking about how the sister teams feel now, cf and nce have always supported eachother no matter the outcome of the competition and still do.

4.  Finally no there is no 20 year old on any one of nor cals teams. i know this for a fact because i am the guy everyone is questioning. my name is john and i am a coach as well as participant on nor cal elites coed level 4 and coed level 5 team. this is my last year i make the age cut off to be on the senior teams and no i am not 20 i am 19 years old born on september 15 1989 and make the age cut off by a few months. if you have any questions or suspicions that i am an inelligable member feel free to walk up to me and ask to see my license ill have no problem showing you, and it would probably be a lot more effeicient then getting your information through the grape vine or through a message board or even my myspace.

any more questions or comments needing answering feel free to contact me or any other nce staff member at our gym

GREAT JOB NOR CAL!!!!!! YOU GUYS DID GREAT!

Okay so Nor Cal my not be a "roy" thing...but we all know that Roy made Nor Cal who they are when it comes to performing and skills....not some snobby rich parents.

I guess everyone is entitled to their personal opinion on the deffinition of "better".
I personaly think POWER was better, less tumbling mistakes, less bobbles.  Difficulty, well, CF had 4 toe touch 2 to fulls, POWER had pretty much whole team, yes some were 2 to tucks or lay outs, but they also had several to doubles. Pass tumbling POWER almost all doubles or specialty to doubles, and 2 touch downs...no falls.  To each his own.  I beieve the best team won.

Ok, I attended this comp and I have a few comments...

Senior 4- I SOOOO think One Athletics should have one.  I heard they were in first on Saturday but had some deductions for Sunday, no idea why because I missed them on Sunday :( but judging by Saturday's performance, they were on!  No mistakes and yes def more tumbling than that of starstruck.  But not to take anything away from Starstruck, they were crisp and clean but IMO I think One had the total package.

Sm Sr 5- Ok yes cheerforce had a more difficult routine PLANNED however if you look at how well it was executed, it was too rushed and there were indeed some wobbles.  Power may have been a little more reserved but it got the job done.  They were clean and hit everything (with the exception of one side of the pyramid on Sunday).  Cheerforce had a fall on Saturday too which mixed with their wobbles and rushed stunts, it just didn't measure up to Power.  HOWEVER, IMO this is one of the first competitions of the season so cheerforce has plenty of time to polish their routine!  Once they do, they will be one of the top teams (their tumbling is amazing)!  Fierce is another team that once their routine is polished and clean they will be a great team as well.  One A needs some polishing on their elites and def more tumbling to keep up with the other level 5 teams (you ladies still rock though i'm just keeping it real).  This comp def belonged to Power, it was their day and they deserved it!

Sr 5 coed- GOOD FOR NOR CAL!!!  They did awesome!  Again I have to say that cheerforce had more difficulty but the way they produced it was a bit rushed and at times a little sloppy.  However once it's polished and executed the way it was choreographed, they too will be a strong competitor.  Good job cheerforce, you guys are def a threat to the other teams and I can't wait to see you guys later in the season!

Sm sr 4- Fierce could have easily took this however the routine was so rushed and sloppy (again sorry ladies).  If this routine was slowed down a bit and if they worked to get all the wrinkles out, it would be a very difficult but clean routine.  This is another team that will be a top team if they clean up their stunts and formations and tumbling.  But this comp belonged to AP in this category.  Good job!

Other teams- Fame is looking good for a first year team, Nor-cal's coed teams are awesome and have great potential, Las Vegas elements looked good, Starstruck has so much potential but I don't feel the excitment in their routine as I feel when other teams perform.  If they get that excitment in their dance or even during their tumbling section they will win over the crowd and they will def be a threat to other teams in their categories!

GOOD JOB TO EVERYONE!!!  I ENJOYED THIS COMPETITION!biggrin

I read this message board sometimes and I am amazed by how much people like to discredit other teams who work just as hard as the next.  Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, that's why cheerleading can be so subjective.  OA was great and Bri has an amazing group of girls! They had a lot more tumbling than Starstruck, but you don't always win just becasue you tumble really good, i.e. cheerforce.  You have to bring all your skills to the floor and be clean about it!  Just a side note!  Starstruck had 12 out 21 girls that threw layouts, two of which were front through to layouts.  Two girls popped their pass on day two, but judges obviously don't deduct for missed attmepts.  Just face it, whether they were smoking somthing, or just plumb dumb, they liked Starstruck more than they liked OA.  Next, time we won't have to worry about an OA and Starstruck battle, because Starstruck is a small senior 4 with 20 girls.  They just had an injury a few weeks before and threw someone else in, but the other girl ended up healing in time and coach left her replacement in.  Too all the teams this weekend, GREAT JOB!  It was an fun and exciting competition!  This is my first time leaving a comment on this message board and my last!  I will leave all the bashing to everyone else.

"Win with grace, lose with dignity"

If you are talking about POWER, 1 last element of the pyramid did not hit on one side, in no way did the entire pyramid go down, even on one side.  Actually most of the components of the pyramid hit, so people need to get over it.  POWER clearly was the cleaner team, and as far as difficulty, it was a pretty even match, other than Kiara, and 1 does not make the "team".  JMO

OK, well that one element is 5 points. How come they received 0 deductions on day 2?

First of all this was a great competition (with the exception of the seating and long breaks), especially for the beginning of the season.  The caliber of teams that attended was incredible.  This is going to be a very competitive year.

Power was great as usual, great tumbling and their dances are always exciting.

CheerForce your transitions and stunts were incredible, definitely got everyone's attention.

NorCal looks like you worked out the kinks that went with the merger.  Your teams defintely responded to your energetic crowd they all looked like they were having a blast on stage.

Gymstars your Michael Jackson move was fun to watch and the beginning of your music got everyone's attention.

One Athletics it's hard to believe your a first year gym, good job

Fame your teams also did a great job, now if I can just get that fame song out of my head (it's addicting)

Cheer Xperience way to get first place with only a five member team!

Congratulations to all the teams.

OMG!!!  Don't hate on John just cause he has a life!  And if you're going on people's myspaces to look up ages then you're sadly pathetic!  I'm sure if you worried about your own team and took the time out of your pathetic life to actually look up people's myspaces from your own team, you will find that A LOT of people lie about their age on myspace!
Can we ban all haters from this site please!!!  Oh wait then their might not be anyone left huh?!?
John...I give you props for keeping it real and coming on here and clearing your name.  You obviously have nothing to hide and it takes a big man to come on here and speak openly!  The people putting you down are just nor-cal haters that have nothing better to do with their lives.  GO NOR-CAL!!!smile

I don't see how Starstruck beat One in Sr 4. Starstruck was doing round off backhandsprings and a few tucks. I saw maybe 4 layouts.

The judges were consistant the ENTIRE weekend.  They rewarded for being clean and sharp.  That's what Starstruck was clean and sharp.  Perhaps they didn't get their points from tumbling but this is not a tumble off it's a cheerleading competition.  There are more elements in a routine.  Starstuck did well in the other elements of the routine.  They looked more polished that One.

One WOWED the crowd Saturday.
Starstruck was clean Sunday.
Bottom line- One was better all around both days.
Congrats to Starstruck.

I dont believe the person above you was talking about POWER...they were talking about Level 4!  Read the entire post before responding about another team here!

Ok, I attended this comp too. POWER has two level 5 teams and I personally think International deserves some props. Way to go big Jen for hitting your stunt both days. For a team as a whole, you were fantastic, clean and hit right on both days. Maybe John should consider giving this team alittle more props himself. After all it's ALL the teams that make up a gym, not just the one that's considered the "it" team. WHY TO GO INTERNATIONAL!!!!!!!!!

And you would know that the judging was consistent how? Are you one of the judges? Were you the deductions judge? Because that judge was way off their game this weekend? Two flyers hit the ground and only 8 points in deductions? A whole half side of a pyramid doesn't go up and they only got 1 point in deductions? And I am not just talking about this division.

AGREED, the judging was quite ridiculous this entire weekend. I know of at least 3 different teams that got score sheets back with other teams deductions on it and it effected placement, im sorry but that is unacceptable.
