Well I thought One athletics looked amazing but it's kind of hard to call them a 1st year program. It's my understanding that the owner bought out Roseville Cheer Stars and started with a good base of their girls.

I am a huge fan though and I think they will quickly become a force to be reckoned with.

I also agree that they should have received 1st! It's one of those situations where it just depends on wether the judges want difficulty level or a clean execution. Congrats to both teams!

I would hope that no one would laugh in anyone's face. If it is true they might want to watch out for OA because there is nothing better than proving yourselves and going out and kicking their butt again over & over again. You be the better team and bring it to the floor and show them and everyone what you are made of! And that would be champions with class!

GET USED TO THE NAME IT WILL BE LOUD & CLEAR THE BLUE, BLACK AND WHITE ONE ATHLETICS IS HERE... OA

I know that Starstrucks teams would never laugh at another team.  They were excited and happy and maybe their excitement was taken the wrong way.  OA was amazing, and the scores had to be close.  Starstruck was clean and on point on Sunday after a rough start Saturday.  They did have at least 10 or 11 layouts that I saw.  Cheer is not all about tumbling, there are many elements to consider.  If the majority of your points came from tumbling I doubt they would require stunts, a cheer, a dance sequence, and a jump sequence.  So congrats to OA and Starstruck.  You are both fantastic teams and can not wait to see more of you later this year.  I must also say congrats to Cheerforce Alcatraz amazing job!  You look great!  GOOD LUCK to ALL teams for the rest of this season.  smile

I have to agree... I have never ever witnessed poor sportsmanship from this gym.  I honestly think that most gyms are beyond laughing at others for losing.

Are they celebrating in their gym for their win???? probably so. DON'T WE ALL?  It is a great feeling.

Personally, you have to take your win and lost graciously.   If you lost to a team you thought you should've beaten.
Go back to your gym and work on weak points and leave no questions the next time you compete.

On any given competition day, it is anyones daywink

Be careful saying "never"....my daughter was on the floor and said the same thing. Not the entire Starstruck team, but there were a few girls. You need to be gracious as a winner as well...not just when you losesmile

While I agree cheer is not ALL about tumbling, that along with stunts are what "defines" each level, I think that is the point was they didn't have the amount of tumbling specified for a level 4 team.

Proud cheer mom, I stand corrected... Yes I should never say never :) I meant in general this orginization usually shows great sportsmanship smile.gif
Of course you have your few individuals who cant jump on board with the rest of the team.  I would hope that if their coaches are reading the boards, that they go back and let their teams know that is not how they want to be veiwed, therefore if you did laugh at a team for losing... please do not do that in the future.  That way it is addressed if it happened and if it didn't they will know they dont allow those things to happen.

I would hope that every gym emphasis the importance of winning and losing graciously.  More importantly, that the coaches reflect the same attitude.  What I love about our coaches, when we all feel like we shouldve placed higher. Their words at practice, is what do we need to do better next time.  That puts the focus back on our girls doing whatever they need to do to be better.

Im sure as coaches they may discuss what they felt was unfair, but at practice it is all about getting better and being the best they can be on the mat.  Sometimes you know in your heart you put on a first place performamce, your routine was pretty much flawless and the results don't show that.  BUT YOU GO BACK TO THE GYM AND MAKE IT BETTER.

I was very impressed with all the teams that performed this weekend. I'm not sure any team was completely happy with their performances, it seemed like every team has a little cleaning up to do.

I personally was the girl who filled in on POWERS sm 5 team, so I wanted to give them a shout out and say way to pull it together. You girls are amazing and I'm so glad I came out of retirment for this competition, i couldn't have asked for a better way to end my cheer career. And to Brandi Melo I love you, the team misses you, and get better soon.

Great job to all the teams this weekend. Good luck to all the teams in the small 5 division!! May the race to WORLDS begin!!

p.s. cheerforce jr coed 5 team is amazing... props to you guys!! get it, and keep working it out!!

I stand corrected.  While I am confident that 98 percent of the girls at Starstruck would not laugh or speak badly of another team, you are right and there are those individuals that say things that are not taught or encouraged at their gym.  So ladies and gentlemen, please always say positive things about other teams, remember there are many little ones watching, listening and learning the things we directly or indirectly teach them.  Again amazing job by all teams this past weekend and hope to see you all again.smile

I just found out tonight our junior team won the full paid bid to the IALC...We were so happy when our coach announced it today. We have a new group of girls this year with only a few returners on the Junior Team.  Our team consists of several 4th, 5th and 6th graders that make up the majority of this team however they are in Juniors because three of the girls are over 11.  I am so proud of them they have come a long way.  I also wanted to say ONE ATHLETICS is great program and their cheerleaders are so nice.  Our girls love them all... This was a very close competition and as a mom I thought it was a great competition.

What happened to Cheer ODD (The Raider Nation)?  The were winning 6 or 7 divisions after Saturday but only came away with one win!  Guess they haven't learned how to hold a lead... YOU KNOW! biggrin

Yea I guess that is the name of the game, either you're on or your not.  After Saturday all of our teams but one were in first.  Come second day, we just didn't give enough to hold on to those leads.  Trust that we have learned a valuable lesson that we will not take for granted in the future.
As the coach for senior 3, I know my girls deserved to be in second after watching fame's almost flawless routine.  I can also vouch that my girls are now back in the gym hungrier than ever to make sure such a disappointment doesn't happen again.
I think this uncertainty however, is what makes cheer so much fun.  It is why we keep on coming back with new teams, and new routines every year.  Why, because no one is ever untouchable, and anyone can be knocked off their peg on any given day.  No matter how invincible you may feel, there will always be another team on your heels trying their best to challenge such convictions.
Long story short,  we all are vying for the top spots, and the intense competitive thrill that results from such a chase is what fuels our desire to keep on competing, even if you aren't always first.

I have to agree with this!!!!! The judging was obviously off this whole weekend not just with deductions but with difficulty points as well!!! And blank score sheets? Wtf completley unfair and unnacceptable. Whatever teams got these I'm very sorry for! I'm dissapointed with this weekends turnout!

I have to say... AND I SPEAK ON BEHALF OF MYSELF ONLY... I was dissapointed with the decisions on judging all over the board. There was a couple of huge mistakes made here in the judging and calculating at this competition including: blank scoresheets, erased scoresheets, and my biggest problem, careless technicality judging.

Humm so you are saying whoever won should not have won?
Which division was an obvious mistake?
