Wow....that is interesting! What is OVAC? Why are only 13 out of 19 girls allowed to compete at state and regionals? That would suck to be part of the team but not to be able to compete! It sounds like it is highly regulated....I am assuming for safety purposes.
OVAC is a Ohio/WV state competition for the local region teams. Our cheerleaders cheer all year long, football, boys and girls bb, and because of the ability and talent of our past and present cheerleaders our tryout numbers are low. So when 19 girls tryout they choose all of them for the whole season and out of those cheereleaders our competition squad is chosen. I'm not quite sure why the WVSSAC only allows 13 and 2 alternates.

Awesome routine...these guys are really all stars though when they are away from school- right? Never witnessed a Varsity squad with that much skill going on during a halftime...great stuff! Hope no one gets hurt on that floor though!
Last year we had 9 on Basics, but 2 graduated and now we have only 7 of the girls on Basics Allstars. The majority of the girls have never cheered for an allstar team. In our county, because of the success of the cheer program (the girls are going for the 11th state title) the younger girls that want to cheer at Brooke start at a very yount gage cheering and tumbling.
No. Our coached has coached the high school for about 15 years. Her daughters all have cheered. Our local all star gym's coach provides us and other high school teams the gym for tumbling and helps with our music and dance, as well as a couple of the other HS teams. Our HS coach is pretty amazing, the WVSSAC puts limits on the teams and she finds creative ways to make Brooke stand out and still within those guidelines. They are going for their 11th state title Saturday.
