The competiton was well run, they were on time and organized. Warm up floors were less than good with a very small "stretching mat", a 2 panel (at the very most) spring floor tumble track, and a 5 panel foam mat. The warm up times were ok, we spent 5 mins on each floor The seating was wierd, they didn't pull out the bleachers. It was set up like a big confrence with all the seats at floor level. The trophys IMO were very cheap. They did take professional pictures which was nice. The judging (I felt) was right on. The 5 minute wait between teams was long and annoying. The Jam Brands "cheer gear" was great as always. Other than my few complaints I was happy with the event.
Congrats to Aerials Sr 3 for their PAID BID to U.S. Finals!!!! UCF Sr 4. is always a pleasure to watch. Footnotes Fusion's dance teams were AWESOME!!!
I'd have to say I agree whole heartedly with this whole post.
All UCF teams looked very good. Their senior 4 has come a long way... awesome showing of standing tucks... looked like all but about 4 girls.
I thought the Ariels teams were also amazing. Especially loved the routine from the small Senior 4.
Silver Spirit is from Minden NV. They looked really good too. I'd have to say they do such a wonderful job of placing their teams in the correct level.
As for the rest of the teams... yes it's still early but the biggest problem to me... BRING IT DOWN ONE LEVEL.

corrections aerials is senior open level 3. But they had a graet routine. very very strong tumbling. Stunting needs a little work but overall good routine UCF senior open 4 was my absolute favorite routine of the whole competition. Their senior two was great too. They are very very strong this year and I love they are etting the respect they deserve. their youth team was entertaing as well.
I agree that their are plenty of teams that should thinka bout another level, but that is their gyms choice and you just never know what their goals are for the season. So good luck to them. This comp was way too long for the number of teams, the 5 minute break in between teams was past ridiculous. two thumbs down for Americas best on this one.
I saw new uniforms at this comp too. Ucf senior went to half tops but same design. Aerials had new uniforms, not a fan of them at all, something looks a little off about them, but I can see the concept they were going for. I saw a team with purple and white uniforms they were ok too.

To clarify, the stretch mat was 2 3-foot mats velcroed together, totalling one 6-foot mat. The tumble strip in warm-ups was 15 feet wide, definitely larger than two regular mats put together. And the warm-up floor was a full 9 panels.
The competition was run on time and well organized. The schedule had each team performing 5 minutes apart total, so there was only a wait time of about 2 minutes between each performance. I feel that this cannot be helped with a smaller attendance like this, because they cannot run a double warm up with fewer teams. For the numbers AB had in attendance, it was a great competition. It actually seemed to go faster & smoother than the Gold Jam did two weeks ago. Parents made nice comments.
Judging was spot-on.....
I would agree that the elevated staging was a stinker, but it couldn't be helped. It is my understanding that the convention center itself has issues with pulling out the stadium seating. It is at a greater cost to the event producer because of liability issues or something. I heard this in the past, and NOT from AB. Thankfully, they had VIP seating (new to AB), so at least the parents/families could have a decent view of their teams. The last time I attended AB, I had to stand way back by the judges & off to the side to watch my own team perform. The fact that we were at the Convention Center itself, and not Memorial Auditorium, speaks highly for AB. More space, better warm-up area, better snack bar, better venue.
Congratulations to all the teams who performed yesterday! It was a great event!
