I thought every person got a medal on Saturday?

But what do you expect the competition only cost $35.00 for two days.  American Championships in San Jose is $85 for two days

Yep, you get what you pay for.  That's youth league cheerleading.  If you want a real experience join an all-star program.

That's RUDE...  Just because someone may be a youth cheerleader and not an all-star doesn't mean that the competitions are any less important to them.  Get over yourself and realize that maybe not everyone wants to be an all-star.  There are plenty of youth competitions out there are are just as good as the all-star ones.

You obviously need to educate yourself better because how many all-star cheerleaders do you think could keep up if they had to practice outside with the bugs, wind, sun in your eyes on a patch of grass (if there is even grass) that needed mowed at least two weeks ago instead of inside on a spring floor with tumble tracks to learn their new skills on...Youth cheerleaders have to put up with this every practice and there are some organizations that never step on a mat until competition time yet they still are able to come in there and throw level 3 & 4 skills.  You all star people need to think back and realize that the majority of the girls that cheer for all-stars started out in the youth arena and if it wasn't for youth organizations half or more of them would never have experienced cheerleading and wouldn't now be all stars.  Instead of bashing youth organizations you should be thanking them for introducing cheerleading to most of the kids in your gym.

I deffinatly dont agree. You must have not seen some of these youth teams latley. There are some that can kick some all star booty. They deserve just as much as the all star teams they do work just as hard.

you are crazy I have been involved in youth and all stars for over 10 years there wasn't a youth team there this past weekend that could compete all star and hold there own, wake up, GB Midgets and Folsom Midgets are awesome, not taking anything away from them, but don't think for a second they could hang with the big dogs....

John, I obviously know nothing about this competition, but kudos for this.  As part of the Parents Action Committee, this is one thing we're going to encourage ALL event producers to do.

Thanks.

Wow.  I am impressed with a two day comp that costs $35 and runs on time.  People all want different things.  I go to so many comps, I'd be happy there were no vendors that I had to say 'no' too.

I don't understand why there has to be this 'us' against 'them' mentality whether it be youth league, all star or high school cheer.  All the kids work hard and we should be proud of them.  They are not sitting home watching TV, they are involving in activities that keep them fit and healthy.

I don't think the original respondent meant to diss the ability of a youth league cheerleader and those teams.  I took it to mean that if you are looking for competitions that offer certain things then all-star comps may be the way to go as they generally offer those things.  There are youth competitions that do offer more and maybe your league board can look at those as an example for next year but realize that the cost of the competition will go up.  If this is your only competition of the year though, it is probably worth it.  My kids have done both and gone to Nationals on both but as a family we do prefer the whole all-star experience.  However, to each his own. It's great to have the choice.

Thank you. That is exactly what was meant.  I have nothing against youth/rec cheerleading. But across the board it is not close to the same expense nor is it

the same experience as most all-star competitions/programs.  There is always exception to the rule. If you are in a good rec program and not paying equal, or close, to all-star then please, tell everyone where you are because I'm sure there are plenty that want to join! It's not meant as a slam but the reality is Rec cheerleading is a step down from all-star - expense and quality.
