RE: Day Care at Practice

OK, I need to respond to this one. Our program does have a cheerleader who has a baby. She is treated as everyone else, on the team. Meaning, our gym is not a daycare. All visitors, siblings, etc., stay in the viewing room and any minors must have an adult supervising them. The bottom line, you cannot turn away a participant, if they have a child, that's discrimination. If someone signs a contract, honors the time and financial commitment, that is all there is to it. All our parents and cheerleaders are supportive of this cheerleader. If anything, being a young mom, has made her more responsible and appreciative of cheering. In no way does it promote bad values, to the other cheerleaders. Isn,t that their own family's job?

Believe me when I say there are many reasons people don't like her. Being upfront and honest isn't even on the list.

Regarding someone bringing their baby to practice, they may not have a choice. But if they do, I agree that the baby is probably a distraction and it would be best to leave her/him with someone else for a few hours.

Sara is amazing ,who else she flies in choppers shootin the big bad wolves with her amazing red rider gun. Who needs sex ed especially in Alaska they need people up there.

It's funny how you can crack jokes about people in Alaska, but if people were to say how "crazy and liberal Californians are" then you would cry prejudice and rudeness. "Open minded" people are the most close minded.

I think it's wonderful that your parents and cheerleaders are supportive, and I can easily see how it would make the cheerleader more responsible, you grow up real fast in these situations!  Good luck to her and to your gym, I truly admire your understanding and tolerance.  We need more of that in the world.

Ok, I know this should be addressed and I know some people are going to get upset, but I find it highly unacceptable that members on a senior team, bring their babies to practice.  This is not a good example and any parent that thinks this is ok belongs in that gym.  They already have a problem with their coaches and members and now they bring babies while cheering.  My daughters would never be allowed to cheer at a program that promotes this.

I just had to get that off my chest.

Are you serious?? First of all babies shouldn't be at a cheergym, they should be at home or with a sitter. Seriously be more responsible. BTW, Sara Palin is amazing.

Not to get all political about this, but if the "amazing" Sara wasn't against sex education in schools, maybe she wouldn't have even been brought up in this discussion.  Right?   Right.

Oh for sure, sex education has stopped all sex activities from all teenagers!  Wow some of you were probably the product of some of that great education.  Right, for sure.  And she never said no sex education, silly!  If your going to quote her than get what she said and not what someone else tells you.  By the way, Alaska's economic situation is a whole lot better than ours.  Maybe she knows something that Cali doesn't.

Enlighten us, exactly what did she say?  Or do you even know?

Here is the quote they may be referring to:

In response to a questionnaire during Alaska's gubernatorial race, Palin said, "I am opposed to explicit sex education".

what about parents who think a cheergym is a daycare?  Seriously, how do you even have balls to drop off all of your kids at a gym everyday and except them to be watched by the owners or coaches while you are at home! Shame on you.

Does Sarah Palin's daughter cheer at your gym?

I think Sarah Palin is awesome!  Wow, judge not lest ye be judged.  Babies at gyms maybe not, but I support life not murder.  Wow, when did you all become so pure?  And Barack's daughter heaven's no, because he doesn't want a baby destroying his daugher's life.  Listen to yourself.  Shame on you!  Don't make it political.  Your stupid!

Not to mention she hasn't even given birth yet, how ignorant

Well I grew up in Northern California, but my grandmother raised my mother with "southern" values as far as mannerisms. I find that all though we are more "trendy" we are very behind in many things such as values, manners and just core values that make us good people. People in California, just tend to worry about themselves and not how it effects other people.

Having grown up in the midwest you couldn't be more wrong.   The people here in California that I've come to know are much more tolerant of others, letting them live their lives without preaching to them.  I grew up with people who felt their beliefs were fact and those who didn't share them were wrong.  But here in California more people have the "live and let live" philosophy and don't feel their way is the right and only way.  I'm much more happier here.

So they bring their babies to practice every week or what?
