I think you are missing the point. If solo performers were competing against other solo performers, then it would make sense. But as it turns out, when there is no competition, and there rarely is, they are paying to basically perform on stage. They are paying money to showcase their talent. Doesn't that seem odd to you? So what I'm saying is when that's the case, it would be nice if the competition company notified them they have no competition and gave them some options instead of simply taking their money. We all know why gyms have solo performers, we're all "educated" in that respect. In your slam dunk example, correct me if I'm wrong but I doubt the players had to pay anything to compete in that individual event. And that is an actual competition, they are going against other players. Not a great example to make your point.
Thanks, but I understand what your saying. Sometimes its about judges feedback more than anything. It's November, not February/March. You can perform and get ready for events where there will be alot of competitors. I do agree it is nice to compete against other indivdiuals, but you have to make every event to your advantage and use those critiques to get better as a competitor. It would really help if there was some type of database of past results for EVERY competition so we know where and when teams went the previous year. My major gripe with cheer companies is UNORGANIZATION. They don't put out schedules until last minute, then get upset when you have changes. They don't inform you of rule changes, team changes, or anything similar in a timely manner then its up to the coach to scramble and change things around. NO OTHER SPORT does this. You can go online and get up to date information about the event, and teams, but not in cheer. This includes cheergym websites as well. I think point is strong communication, but I always thing judges feedback is important.
Maybe some of the kids who solo don't care if they have any competition (as some of you think is so important), and their parents don't care if it costs to show off their child's talent. You don't have to sign up your kid or even watch. Let them be.
Did they combine senior open 4 with senior 4? Last time I looked Athletic Perfection was in the senior open 4 with no other competition. Hopefully they'll combine that one.

Wow!! Saying that Fierce will get 1st in small sr 5, are you from Fierce? They must be really good this season. I'm not knocking them at all. Please do not take it that way. This is going to be a tough division and just from last season, Fierce had a tough run so to say that they will win the division must mean that they have had major improvements. Again, not bashing at all.
Cheerforce - they are usually good POWER - they are always clean One athletics - saw the video - potential to be great. Just needs to be consistent Fierce - flexibility 2nd to none. Hope they have a better season this year

thats what i said when i first saw that. They definitely must be from fierce
Thank you for making your point about Fierce and all other Sr 5 teams in such a positive way. I understand what you're saying and agree 100% that Fierce has had a long road to travel and much to prove this season. They will be fine though. Don't read so much into the poster's entry. Fierce will bring all they have to the floor but will not even be close to presenting a finished product (the same goes for all teams there). First place is anyone's to claim though and will depend on how the chips fall on the day of any given competition. I think the poster might have been someone from from Fierce's team, not an overzelous parent or fan. If so, you have to admire that kids' loyalty, positivity and optimism.
I really wish the best for Fierce (and One Athletics) because it seems all eyes will be on them for various and obvious reasons. Do well this season!
Good luck to all teams in all divisions. Can't wait to find out the end results for all going to San Jose.

Wish Fierce was as nice to so california teams as you all are being to them. They are mean to us down here.

i dont doubt it
I second that
I third it! From coaches and parents on down to the cheerleaders!
Here is my observation, since it has been brought up (constuctive criticism I hope). Even here in northern CA I have noticed Fierce parents and members coming across as smug. But I think it's because they are so caught up in supporting their own gym they are oblivious to everyone around them.
On a positive note, I really enjoy their routines. I always prefer creativity and difficulty to boring safe routines.
