So I would say that the statement was funny and not very accurate...since everyone has to start somewhere...and it seems there are many teams that started coaching youth/rec, jr high and high school. Hats off to all these coaches/gym owners out there working with our kids!
Everyone needs to start someplace as they move up the ranks. No doubt about it. The thing is for any future coaches is to no compromise good values and common sense. do not make foolish mistakes like embellize money, take under-aged cheerleaders out for drinks (party with the kids), etc. the temptations are out there and can get coaches into trouble. the allstar business can be short lived if coaches have this in their past experiences. the skeletons have a way of walking through the doors and the all-star environment is less forgiving than the rec world.

Wow! I would be really upset if I knew coaches from the "rec world" were taking under age kids out for drinks!
