what about PAC... they have a small senior 5 coed international and a jun 5 as well... and will be attending alot of california comps. they they will be in the mix as well
Which ever team John Puts on the floor will be clean and talented. I have never been dissapointed nor have the judges, clearly.
i was very very very dissapointed with powers small senior 5 at worlds
Now it is true that he did have crossovers and that he did move people around after gssa, but he gave a chance for many athletes to take the floor at worlds when they may not of had that chance. Maybe the actual routine may not of been what it was before the replacements, but in no way was it dissapointing, give me a break ,those kids deserve more then that.
Other gyms gave their athletes a chance to take the floor at Worlds too and got blasted for it because others felt they weren't qualified to be there, so I guess no gym is safe from criticism, even Power. I agree, the kids deserve more than that and deserve a lot of credit for all of their hard work. If your gym took a team or team(s) to Worlds this past season, major kudos to you, I'm sure it was an experience you will always remember. Good luck to Power this season; I have faith they will have the same awesome teams they have every year.
My daughter's team got a bid to Worlds last year, they competed, and didn't make it to finals. It was our gym's first trip to Worlds and my daughter's last chance to go as she was a senior and graduated out of the program at the end of the year. It was an experience we will never forget. Their team worked so hard, and preparing for Worlds brought their entire skill level and teamwork up to a much higher level they wouldn't have achieved otherwise. They knew that making finals was a longshot, but they never let that discourage them.
This year, her former team is stronger than ever. Going to Worlds last year brought in new talent and made the rest of the team work harder to perfect their skills. If you looked at where they placed compared to the top teams there, you could probably make the argument that they didn't deserve to be there. But if you look at what they took away from that experience, and then look at where the team is this year, their skill level, and how much more qualified for Worlds they are this year, then absolutely they should have been there.
We grow by experience. It's easy for a kid, parent or coach from a large established gym that has been performing at the Worlds level for several years to have an elitist attitude and want to exclude some of the squads from participating, but the whole experience is what makes newer or smaller programs better and "Worlds Worthy" in the "making it to finals and placing" sense of the word. I wish everyone would stop blasting teams who they think other teams shouldn't be there. Concentrate on your own team and put forth your best effort. If other teams don't deserve to be competing against you, then don't worry about it. You won't see them on the day of finals, but you might just be up against them next year

sorry to say but i dont thik they will be at the top of that mix. i dont think they will be able to beat ca cf or power
Power will have some issues. They lost lots of good kids anda also coaches
This is hard to believe. mayvbe some coaches did leave. so what that would be true for every gym. turnaround is always going to be there. heck, how many of you started with your first job and then stayed with that job/company the rest of your life? People grow up and need to find careers. so they move on. maybe they move on to other gyms but for the most part they move on because they need benefits and a 40 hour a week job.
It appears that the same executive power staff is still in place. there fore the gym style hasn't changed.
sure they lost some athletics this season. most of the time it's a good thing. it's usually the athletics that give the coaches grief. worse yet, it those cheerleaders with crazy parents or cheerleaders with parents that can't pay their bills. All these issues become some other gym's issues and most of the time the prior gym is so much more happier. good luck new gym.
Who would you consider executive staff? I would consider Dee and Bri exectutive staff. Especially Dee, she was with them for 10 years. They both head coached their advance teams and they are both gone.

I agree about Bri and I think you mean Lisa Deeter. Also alot of good tumbling coaches like Portia are gone, and as for the other post that its the athletes that gave headahces blah blah blah ect... I would hardly say that Shayla and Hailey who were 2 of his best flyers and tumblers with standing fulls on his 5 that are now at One Didn't pay there bills or were headahes. They are amazing and you know what it was time for a change. I am extremly excited for this season and can't wait to see what ONE and POWER bring to the table

how cool would it be to have John, Bri, Lisa, Danielle, Portia, Dan, Rich, Lindsey, Josh, Makeda, and Curtis together again ONE POWER.... yeah right, thats a joke, John swallow is pride, and admit he lost the best staff an owner could dream off
For the record... This year is going to be the best year ever for POWER!
Yes those staff members have been great employees, but that does not take away from the outstanding staff that I currently have and the direction we are heading. It's like a snake shedding skin, you need to do it to grow, and it's natural.Curtis moved to AZ and Lisa D got a great promotion at her 9-5 job teaching. The rest of the people you mentioned were not working at POWER last year or for several years.
In regards to the kids mentioned I wish them the best, but as one kid leaves another one comes to the program that is just as good.We have had some very talented new members come to POWER this year, and we are not skipping a beat.
Cheerleading is about team chemistry, you can have the most talented kids ever but because of individual agendas, PSYCHO parents, or clicks they can sabotage how great a team could have been.On the flip side you can have a bunch of girls that get after it day after day working together and do things you didn't think possible. Then there are those rare times where you have talent, work ethic, and non psycho parents, it doesn't happen often but when it does it is magical.
I can honestly say that this year coaching is fun again.Maybe it's the parents that left, maybe the kids, maybe the direction in which we are currently heading, or maybe it all of them combined, but bottom line POWER is not just going to be as good as in years past we are going to be better because we are having fun doing what we do!
Kind of funny to me that people are so concerned of what we are doing instead of what their team is doing...Best of luck we will see everyone November 15&16 in San Jose
Glad to hear Power got rid of the psycho parents, I know how distracting that can be. It sounds like they are all having fun again, isn't that what cheer is supposed to be about? Change can be good.
I do think that John's e mail was taking the high road. He wouldn't have to even reply if people weren't bashing him in the first place. ( and I don't even know the man i'm from so cal)

Agreed. I coach an all star team in Nor Cal as well and sometimes you just get really great athletes, parents and the staff just is motivated to come to work. When I say great athletes, its not their talent, but their drive to work and achieve success for the program, not their individual agenda's. It is great to her that Power is doing well. I am sure everyone will shine this season.

maybe the reason why those parents and kids left that gym in the first place was because the became "psycho" form listening to him for so many years
