Sorry to hear, could have seen that coming. Hope it gets better! Good luck to you and your child this season.
It's not always smooth at first with merges, especially if the coaching styles are different, etc... Communication is the key, if you are unhappy let your coaches know what the problems are if they don't know already. Good to work these things out before competitions start!
Very hard to do when the coaches do not talk to parents. Will and do not.
I thank those of you who love my program and who want me to fight for CheerTyme and Thank you for the positive comments also. It took me forever to make this super hard decision, but it is for the best. Coaching kids is what I love to do, and at CheerTyme myself and Sissy were wearing way to many hats and we were spreading ourselves to thin. This will allow me to do what I love with some new awesome kids and coaches. I was also at, what I think is the peak of skill growth at CheerTyme, and as a coach skill growth is so important. With the help of the Aerial staff our kids can grow with their skills and become the best that they can be. It will be an awesome thing for the city and I know as long as we put our hearts into it, it will work out. The Areials staff is a great group of people. When combined we will be a big force in our area. It is a bitter sweet feeling as we loose the name "CheerTyme" but no merger can take from the "CheerTyme" family what we have done over the last 10 years. CheerTyme will live on in the hearts of those involved. We are excited and thrilled to be merging, it is something that needed to happen in our area forever and we are glad we can be a part of it.
I would love to see pac (ca) and oc allstars merge. Both of the owners are incredibly talented and they have worked together in the past. They both could offer alot to make one strong program. The gyms are really close in proximity so it is stressful at competition time. But unfortunatly it probably will never happen. Good luck to both gyms!!!!!
i too would love to see this!! It would be a great merge! We can dream can't we?!
As far as OC gyms, I'm excited to see Stealth this year. They are a new program off to a really strong start. I think they're going to have a really strong program this year. Anyone know what teams they'll have?

Good for you! It sounds like you put a lot of thought into this decision. It will be exciting to see what this new adventure will bring. Good luck to all!!

Communication, communication communication. Understanding that any merger is a difficult transition for everybody...coaches, owners, parents and athletes. Working hard to be inclusive bringing both programs together as one, must be sympathetic to the feelings for the gym that merged. You can not instantly "spin" it into the best thing for kids and parents but through patience and hard work you can show that it can be a very good thing.
Amy, I will pm you later when I get off work. I wish you and Aerials the very best!

I agree completely. Everyone needs to be on the same page, working towards the same goal, and for that you need communication.

not really a merger question but...is cheergyms.com still partnering with other gyms this year to form teams for all american? just curious and wondering how that worked out for them.
Having been through a merger the hardest part is rumors started by people who are not in favor (ie; parents, kids, or other gyms) of the merger. Before anyone else knows that a merger is even going to take place there are countless meetings and decisions made to make the merger beneficial to both the gyms and the kids and parents. Usually these gyms are close to each other which means in the past they have been competitiors. Making parents and kids who have in the past been competition come together as one can be a very hard concept for some of the gym members to handle. Some people are not able to realize that the gym owners and coaches are trying to do whats best for everyone involved. Other gyms may feel threatened by the merger so they start rumors to spread uncertainty and try to recruit from the merging gyms saying they are more of a sure thing. Rumors are the worst part of kids sports and cheerleading being so expensive and competitive makes it even more cut throat. Sometimes a merger is the only way to stay in business in this economy. If you love your gym trust your owners that they are doing the best they can for you and support their decisions. If you become unhappy don't bash them just try another gym in your area and see if it is a better fit. You never know maybe the grass is greener at another gym or you may find it was the greenest right where you started. Goodluck to every one this year.
Our previous gym went through a merger at the end of last year and sadly the owners of our gym did not have the kids best interest at heart. You would like to think that in most instances the owners will continue to look out for their clients but sadly that is not always the case. But as parents we absolutely have the right to choose what is best for our families and make decisions based on those choices. Sometimes you will go along with the merger and other times you have to see what other options exist.

Was this a true merger where the owners stayed with the new program or was it a buyout where the owner left? It would be very sad if the owner stayed and did not care about the kids. But if the owner sold due to personal reasons maybe they were doing the best they could for there own situation and hoping for the best for the kids which turned out not to happen as planed.
Stealth is in Costa Mesa. I think last year was their 1st year (maybe 2nd), but they had a good showing at the comps I saw them at. I think the owners came out of an existing, program, but can't remember which one. They practice out of the Team OC gym - nice facilities (we visited once). Looks like a fairly new gymnastics facility. Wish I could be more specific, but there's so much talk about so many gyms that the all details get a little fuzzy. I do know they're a fairly new program though so kudos to them for having so many teams so quickly.
