I agree! Yes, I did read your post and I understand what you wrote. I agree everyone is entitled to their opinion, like you and me.
I'm sure your child has worked very hard to be on a level 5 or level 4 team......and your thought is, why the heck should thier now be a level 4.2? Things change, that's why. The cheer world is not what it used to be back 25 years ago, 10 years or even 4 years ago! The rules change and for the better(we hope). I have to say I do not recall of a sport were the rules have changed so much! LOL.......... All I ask is for those who do not like the 4.2 for what ever reason....think of the kids who can so everything BUT the tumbling and ask your self this.....Would YOU want to be held back?
Makes you go Hmmmm.......... LOL.... Have a Nice Day!
Tumbling is a key element - so this argument is sensless. To be a level 4 team you should have all the level 4 elements. If your child has every other level 4 skill except for tumbling then I guess they need to get into the gym
I guess I wouldn't be so opposed to the 4.2 level -- if I knew for certain (like that will ever happen) that the level wouldn't be sandbaged. I can totally see (like stated above) a true level 4 team, also compete the mostly same routine in a 4.2.
Maybe, just maybe if they added the cavet (only X amout of cross overs) allowed in this division or something like that.

Now see, I do agree with that! I hate gyms that sandbage! I can see if they need to replace a girl or two if they are sick or hurt, but for the whole season...please.....

Tumbling is not a key element. It's one part of the routine. It's not all about the tumbling! Back in the day there was no tumbling....cheer was motions, stunts, pyramids and dance. Ok, maybe basic stuff.....if you wanted to tumble you did gymnastics. My point is, who cares if they add a new division? The kids don't care.....Those who have mastered that level in all the elements will be sent to a L5 team....you wait and see and I bet they come up with a L5.3.....Why not!
If you don't think tumbling is a key element, then you are kidding yourself. In fact, it may be be the biggest part of cheer in today's age. Most money made is spent on privates for what..... TUMBLING!!!! I am not saying it is good, bad or indifferent, it is just a fact.
While I agree with your tought, I stiil think don't believe that is a good idea for the all star industry. Yes, not all people will learn to tumble, but if we start changing the standard s for the sport, it will just become more diluted. For example, some kids have the talent to make high school sports, but if not, their are other alternatives such as park and rec, little league, etc.... same for cheerleading. I do feel that everyone who wants to participate in allstars should get the opportunity, but that is what 1-4 levels are for. Tumbling is a huge part of the sport, especially when you get to level 4 and 5. So if you aren't as talented in that area, then maybe you should consider someting different or stay at a level in which you are strong in all the skills. if we keep making exceptions and lowing the bar, we might as well call ourselves popwarner cheer and call it a day.(Not that I don't feel pop warner is awesome, i just think that we have gotten this far with all star cheerleading, why screw it up now!!!) It seems to be just another ploy to make more money in an alraedy expensive industry.
Bla, Bla, Bla...............Bottom line: Yes, it is a way to keep girls in the All Stars and away to keep gyms open. Girls will ALWAYS want to cheer for their High Schools, however this gives them the chance to ALSO cheer for ALL STARs with out the tumbling. What's wrong with that? NOTHING! If it's costing you no money and only and extra 15-25 mins at a comp, who cares! Are you so selfish that you can not allow others to have fun and enjoy the sport they love? Get over your self! AND another thing, those who do pop warner are awsome! those parents have choosen a different rout for their kids and family. It does not mean they are any less and that is what you ment. All Star families put a lot of time and yes money into the sport and if that is what they want to do than they should be able too.
I don't think the post was being selfish, it was just looking at the big picture. I agree with it 100%, we already have levels 1 through 4, and if there isn't a fit for someone I don't think the answer is to add even more divisions.
Well, it is about keeping kids in a sport that maybe don't have the best resources to get the gymnastics they need, but the skills for stunting is there. They are working the system on this one, and that is what it's all about.
I think its a great idea and will result in better tumbling technique. In stead of kids that dont have tumbling being on high teams because they can stunt where the focas is on higher level tumbling and being pushed to get a standing tuck before they even have a backhand spring with the proper technique. They can do the high stunts and still focas on basic tumbling and poper technique
