give a major shout out to all my athletes/coaches at our gym. Since the thread this was orginally posted in was at the beginning of the summer it is no longer active:
Every Summer, immediately after Tryouts we hav Open Gym Scheduled four days a week, Mon thru Thurs. As Tumbling Director I set the goals for the gym, structure, staff assignments, workout loads, injury management, etc.
This year we decided to do something different and structure it as Pre Season Training. This was to remove the connotation from some kids and parents minds that it was just a drop off baby sitting service..we actually expected them to work during Open Gym. I set out with the goal of gaining 200 New Appropiate Level Skills in the gym by the end of Pre-Season Training. That will be tommorrow. Our previous high summer new skill count was 171 new skills and there was no restriction on the skills.
As of right now as I am preparing certificates and awards for tommorrow Night's Performance Night and Pep Rally, we have 208 New Appropiate Level Skills for the Summer. This means a Level 5 could not get credit for doing a new skill that is considered a level 4 skill, and so on down through each Level. It had to be on the skill Level of your base team or higher. This is also very exciting to me because traditionally over 78% of our cheerleaders come to us with zero cheer or tumble experience whatsoever. So a whole lot of our success is "home grown" so to speak. Not too bad for one of the smaller programs in our state!
I want to thank all of the parents, athletes, and coaches (many of whom read this board as well) who have made this possible. Coaches we are all banged up but better off! Thank you for investing so much of yourselves into our kids on a daily basis. You pushed yourselves and these kids to heights of greatness this summer. What memories we have created! And who can forget the injuries...lol. What we all have sown in tears we shall reap in joy this year and in years to come.
Thank you for allowing me to work with all of you.
