The timing is terrible. Too TOO close to the Holidays. Most gyms are closed during this time.
You must not be into cheer. Most of the major programs go to this comp because they want to run with the big dogs. Most lower level programs dont bother going
As a parent I feel this comp is too close to Christmas, last year was our first year going and Christmas at our house felt very thrown together. I also had to curb a lot of what I am used to doing for my kids due to the toll the cost of this comp took on my pocketbook.
I guess I am not that much into cheer either. I think the dates around mid-month in December are fine, but the 21st would suck. I'll be interested to see how it pans out for everybody. At least hotel rates in Vegas seem to be a little cheaper these days if the stuff I am getting in the mail is indication.
Our gym is going for the first time this year and we think the dates will work out great because our kids don't have to be back in school on the following Monday - they'll be on break.
Of course earlier in the month would be the best, but we are going to make lemonade out of our lemons!

Agreed! People need to get over it. WCA and NCA high school nationals are around the holidays and people don't complain. Christmas is 1 day, not the whole 2 weeks. Seriously when people tell me the reasons why they can't go are just stupid. Most of the teams leave Sunday evening or Monday morning which gives you 3 days to do whatever you need to do. Hopefully American Championships will move the date so people STOP their trivial complaints.
Well you can't assume anything. All the Orange County teams do not attend USA Nationals and all the Northern California teams don't attend GSSA, Athletic Championships , or American Championships.
