i saw this earlier today as well and it is an amazing video. I love the end when the girl from cea and the girl from f5 are standing right next to each other. It is heart warming. It would be wonderful to see teams in california do this however i dont thin it would work. A lot of coaches would need to swallow their pride and dignity and become bigger people and i dont think they will. I like the way courtney designed the camp for fame f5 and cea though. They do not see each other at every single competition because while they are all close to each other, they are far enough away. you know? They are all in different states with numerous teams/gyms between each others.

Who "staffed" the camp?? Did their own staff work together?? CheerTyme and SAC did this one year. It was fun. We hired in Airborne staff to help with stunts and tumbling and we had a couple Sac State cheerleaders do some fun choreography for the kids to learn. My Co-Owner at CheerTyme did some fun team bonding activities. We had shirts made that said UNYTED on the front and SAC and CheerTyme on the back. It was a good experience, and the kids had fun. It was hard for all of us learn to be indians and not all chiefs at one time. I think it helped to hire in other staff to teach the kids. That way they aren't learning from the same coaches they learn from all season. We have cut camp from our budget these past few seasons because of the costs. UCA and other organizations have AWESOME camps but they are so expensive.

How do other gyms do summer camps???

That is great! It really teaches the kids about FRIENDLY rivalry and it gives the kids from the other programs a chance to learn from other amazing coaches. Kudos to them!

I think its great that rival teams can get together and just have fun. Its ok to want to win but competition is competition and real life is real life. There is no need to see people bashing other gyms on here everyday. Some gyms out here are taking cheer way too far and making hating other teams part of their real lives. Cheer is supposed to be about FUN not DRAMA. It would be great to see some of the rival teams in california do this.

Well, not mentioning any names, but we did that one year. And the coach from the other all star program called 4 of our level 5 athletes to come and compete with their level 5. They didn't go, but it left us with negative feelings towards the other coach. But hopefully it will work for all of them.

Rebels Elite
Cal Spirit
Airborne
Odyssey

Keep it small the first year...one camp for each level, all level 2 teams for each gym one weekend, level 3 teams on another weekend, and so on. Camp is held at the largest gym with the most affordable and nearby lodging, taught by coaches of each gym who get together prior to set out a lesson plan/materials for dance, jump, stunt, and tumbling classes. OR it could be a one day camp, and have them all back to back...interesting idea...

I think it would be an awesome idea to do a cheer camp together or somethin together prior to competition.
