Has anyone started choreography yet? If so, whos doing it and whats your favorite part?
Good question. West Coast All Stars is starting theirs this week, as well as Pacific Coast. In the past years Celebrity Cheer has helped with Pacific's choreography. As far as this year, I'm not sure. Titan Elite is also having their choreography start this week. Chino Valley All Stars is having a former Rc coach doing theirs.
Pacific Coast is having choreography this week and Celebrity is back. We think they are great!! Our senior coed limited 5 will have most of their choreography done by their head coach. Parents have not been able to view, but the kids are super excited about their pyramid and jump sequence. We can't wait to see what they can do!! It is going to be an exciting season. Good luck to all gyms during your choreography. I think everyone is looking forward to seeing a lot of new and exciting things!!
does caifornia start choreography late or do other teams start early? i was just talking to my friend from az and they have had their choreography for a month already, and my other friend from texas team compeated at a cheerpower competition last weekend
California absolutely as a state starts choreography really late. Teams in the soiuth and east coast have had their choreography for a while. We wonder why we are behind in the cheerleAding world? It couldn't possibly be that we all learn our choreography 1-3 months after most big name gyms.
I really do not think this is the case. There isn't a magic cut off date as to went you should have your choreography. Many factors are involved. When is the choreographer available, final team placement, families taking summer vacations, who knows what else. Don't you want to be able to choreography a routine when your entire team is available? In addition, often times, the cheerleaders get tire of their routine within about six months. The cheerleaders get lazy and the energy level dissapears. Those teams that get their routines in May, June, seem to peak early in the season, say in November. then they just get bored with their routines and mentally they are done, but they still have a half of season to go. I can see both sides of this coin. Again, there is no wrong or right answer for this on.
There is not a "magic cut off date" but there does seem to be a huge diffrence and east coast kicks but on the west coast and maybe it's because we start late this allows east coast to set the trends for the year so we are always following them.
Our choreography is all done in house. Does not ingratiate us with the "big time choreographers" but it is much more affordable to our parents. All teams have pretty much been done now except for the dances, which we typically do not do until 3-weeks before the first comp. That is to get the latest music possible for that section..if that team is going that route. Exception is usually the minis.
Also we usually tweak a routine as needed. Plus we usually revamp every routine top to bottom at the mid way point of our comp year to keep it fresh and new in the kids eyes. Works well for us but i do not necessarily suggest others do that.
