stupid??!  not even close

Agreed, its not stupid but make sure your reasons are correct. I think people are going down to CA because people want to win though. CA bullets had a wonderful season at Worlds all placing top 3, but I think many other gyms provide just about the same experience. I would say Power, Cheer Force and So Cal Elite all do wonderful jobs with their program. I know cheergyms.com and Nor Cal Elite are working on their open teams being stronger. I hope One-Athletics does very well also. People are just on the CA bullets band wagon just like people loved Cheer Athletics for a while. Then it was Top Gun, now its California All Stars. Its just people love who is on top and it will shift in a couple more years to another gym.

Unless you are the person then you dont know what the reasons are.  Its great you have that opinion. The bay area teams need to get much stronger before they are even in the same league as POWER and many So Cali teams.  As far as CF and SCE they are very strong programs (SCE co-ed WOW!) and I'm sure they get LOTS of new kids going to them also.  Why is it when you want the best or you have advanced skills and want to be on a team where they will acutally be utilized do people call it jumping on the bandwagon.  Obviously you had to have some pretty good stuff to make the CA coed team this year so CONGRATS to those that tried out and did. I know I cant wait to see it!

I'm sorry but how were Robert and Kaila's skills not utilized on AA? Names were announced in routine, last pass in tumbling, highlighted stunt sequence in the air. Hmm, sounds pretty utilized to me. I agree if they were not happy, they should go to a gym where they will be. But please do not say her or anyone's skills on that team were not utilized. It would be different if they competed at worlds performing their level 4 Motions routine. But they did not. They performed level 5 and performed it well.

Look at the big picture.  They have to be utilized as a whole.  We've all seen the level 5 team with one full havent we???  Yes that skill is being utilized in the routine but really as a whole? No.  I'm not saying AA wasnt using their skills but you have to look at the whole 2 mins of the routine.  It may get lost in CAs routine but they will have a full floor of true level 5 skills.  There is nothing wrong with feeling your skills will be better used on another team.  They were both great in AA and I enjoyed watching them and the team. I dont think either of them have one bad thing to say about AA or their time at CG.com but they tried out somewhere else too. Congrats to both of them and good luck with their decision.

Thats the one thing that I dont get about the cheer world.  When an athlete leaves they get slammed. Stay if you want, leave if you want.  This is a serious sport and if you want to broaden your horizons with what you think is better then DO SO! I for one wish every single one of you out there the very best year!  It looks to be one of the most exciting years to come with all the merges and "new" gyms.

I think that you cant blame a child to want to work out with kids with the same skill level and drive.  Not to say that their old teams were not hard working, its just a different level.

I dont think anyone besides you would call these althletes washed up.

All these athletes have experienced the "WIN" as you put it.  Maybe you havent but they dont come from gyms that havent ever been to big comps and had big wins.  It's great to have "family" in lots of places! biggrin

I disagree. They will be on a team that IS the same level. AA was 100% level 5. They will be throwing the same skills that they threw on AA. Both teams had full squad fulls and doubles. They had combo passes. They had some standing fulls; neither team had a full team of standing fulls. Both team doubled out of all of their stunts.

They want CA's 2nd instead of 19th. My opinion...It's a trophy hunt. Which is fine if that is where their and their parents priorities are. However the way AA highlighted their athletes would have given them a better chance for scholarship opportunities.

I dont agree about the scholarship oppt.  Cheerleaders from CA have time and time again gotten full rides and some of the biggest names in college cheer.  If it was a scholarship issue, Morton and Danny would not of had an problem introducing those kids to the right people.

Ummmm 19th and clean vs. 2nd and clean and 8th and not clean (POWER) is not the same level.  Not putting anybody down cause I root for all Cali teams but last years AA would not beat CA or POWER on all their best days.

Its not all about winning but definitely the chance to better yourself.  That is a life lesson! You should always want what you feel is better for yourself and gives you the most potential. Sometimes you have to give up the comfortable things or great places you're used to to get there.  There is NOTHING wrong with going different places and getting a diverse cheer background.biggrin Kudos to those parents that THAT is what their priority is.

Ps- If you have the skills, drive, commitment, and talent that will speak volumes to colleges, not if your name is called out during a routine.  That is pretty much proven every year.

This has got so off topic. Bottom line, athletes can go wherever they want, so lets leave these kids alone. Good luck to you all.

Back to AA, I can't wait to see what you guys bring to the table this year. It is going to be awesome.

Any hard earned win feels good, especially when your pushed past your limit.  Remember Alex's post? They are going to work harder and love it

I loved AA's routine.  It was original and I love the Say Cheese!.  My all time favorite Cheegyms routine was the Motion's Coed Frankenstien or however they spelled it.

Sometimes people want to go to a program that is winning and right now that program is
ca..but sometimes that can back fire.

I'm sorry, but come on.  It's more than CA just winning, they are unbelievably awesome and there is much distance between them and the others in our area.  How great that they made the team and are willing to work to be a part of something spectacular, I can't wait to see how they do.

OMG! Did CG think those kids would stay forever because their names were called out in the routine? Oh please, that was so lame anyways. I am so sick of kids being slammed because they leave a gym. People, get over it! tThese kids have the right to go wherever they want and for whatever the reason they want. It is their own family decision. It is none of our business. There is nothing wrong with wanting to go to a better gym. Yes, CA is a better gym. I'm sure they will love it, work harder than ever, and love every minute of the opportunity they have.
