I don't think it's studipity, UNLESS it interfers with school, which it often does. I understand the desire...in HS my parents always told me "school first" but in my mind/heart cheer came first. The only problem of traveling so far is that school has a tendency to become a last priority and if that happens the eventual goal of cheering at a top cheer team in college won't happen if you can't even pass 9th grade.

As well as Motions boys, and now girl. All in all, the top boys (and now some girls) from the nor cal area have been drawn to CA. And as more do it it becomes a model that it's possible so more follow. While the top gyms in this area are getting better and becoming more competitive they are still not a match for the best of the best and at some point the very best athletes search for the most competitive gym, and in california that happens to be CA.

Agreed, its not stupid but make sure your reasons are correct. I think people are going down to CA because people want to win though. CA bullets had a wonderful season at Worlds all placing top 3, but I think many other gyms provide just about the same experience. I would say Power, Cheer Force and So Cal Elite all do wonderful jobs with their program. I know cheergyms.com and Nor Cal Elite are working on their open teams being stronger. I hope One-Athletics does very well also. People are just on the CA bullets band wagon just like people loved Cheer Athletics for a while. Then it was Top Gun, now its California All Stars. Its just people love who is on top and it will shift in a couple more years to another gym.

Unless you are the person then you dont know what the reasons are.  Its great you have that opinion. The bay area teams need to get much stronger before they are even in the same league as POWER and many So Cali teams.  As far as CF and SCE they are very strong programs (SCE co-ed WOW!) and I'm sure they get LOTS of new kids going to them also.  Why is it when you want the best or you have advanced skills and want to be on a team where they will acutally be utilized do people call it jumping on the bandwagon.  Obviously you had to have some pretty good stuff to make the CA coed team this year so CONGRATS to those that tried out and did. I know I cant wait to see it!
