... I'm confused, where does the $4,500 come from?
The regular registration fee is $125, if you are the one team that receives a fully paid registration bid then the savings could potentially be $125 X 36 members = $4,500.
To the anonymous poster that wants Worlds to remain level 5 only. It is remaining level 5 only. This is NOT Worlds. It's finally more like the national most of us say we want...you have to earn a bid and there's only ONE.
You actually could make some money really since 1st place bid teams only need to pay $50 each for registration. $50 * 36 = 1800. The remaining $2700.00 goes to the team. You can apply that to coaches, travel or anything else.
Hmm, is this true? Are they really giving you $4,500? If so great, but it sounds more like you simply get your registration fees paid, that's it. They throw in the $4,500 savings because someone who doesn't get 1st, 2nd, or 3rd place will have to pay the $125 reg fees, and they are basing the savings on that, but in reality someone who doesn't get in those top three won't be getting a full paid bid either, right? (I mean, why would they award a 4th place team a full paid bid)? But if it's true they give you the $125 x the members on your team then you're right, you would make a profit and could use it towards the other expenses. I'm sure between now and the start of competition season someone will clarify this for us.....
That last post was a bit confusing, so here's a simple question for them: if you are the one team per event that wins the paid bid, do you receive any funds from them, or is your prize simply that your registration fees are waived?
i think that it should only be level 5. Like really, who is goingg to want to sit through watchingg all those levels, thats stupid & pluss Worlds will just end up like another Nationals or somethingg. OVER-RATED!!
I think it is a great idea. There are plenty of athletes who work extremly hard and never reach a level 5, and should be honored with a higher level of competition! it should be interesting!
