The emphasis on this and other cheer related boards is on the level 5 teams. Now I know not everyone is a level 5 cheerleader.Id like to know what level you or your child is, and what level team they cheer on.
My daughter is level 4 and cheers on a jr. level 4 team. She's a good ways from being level 5 and still smidget away from being considered a "strong" level 4. But she's trying and I'm as proud of her as all of the other mom's out there of their Level 1, 2, 3 4 and 5's!
Let's see....I am a level one cheerleader. I have a cartwheel, but need some technique pointers.
My daughter was a level 2 (I think, maybe 1) tumbler, a mean level 4 (again, I think, could be 5) base and a level 1 flyer (she never flew, but they don't have 0).
And she's the reason why I can see a gym being open to crossovers, she could fill in base openings on level 4 or 5 but get to really focus on her tumbling in level 1-3. And I'm...well....I'm just useless - even for some parent team, some of those teams actually have parents throwing backhandsprings or tucks....CahRayZee!
i am a level 1! woohooo.. I can do a cartwheel and a roundoff :) at least that's what i did on our parent team LOL NO backhandsprings anymore, i'm not a young kid.
My 9 yo is a level 1/2 - great front walk overs, perfect back bend kick overs, and round offs, almost to the BHS! yes! !
My 11 yo (almost 12) is a level 4/5 - for some reason though, her fulls are easier for her she says than her layouts. Does that make sense? She seems to loose some heigth(sp?) when going into a layout from her bhs. So they work on her standing fulls more than anything else. oh well. But she is a most excellent flyer.

Yes, layouts are a lost skill in cheer. Skipping the layout or not having a good one will make it very very tought to double.
I'm a level 0. A front roll over might put me in the hospital lol :) My daughter is a level 3/4. She has her standing tuck and layout. She's hoping her team competes level 4 this year.
i'm a level 5/6 i guess. i competed level 6 skills when i was on my college's team, and i was on a level 5 international team last year. i do prefer level 5 though. twisting baskets scare me!
