I thought so also. My friend said they still didnt pick teams yet, and they are all practicing together but they will be having one. Maybe they changed their mind?
From what I've seen I think the most part of the Cali gyms will be going international
I've noticed this trend around the country. Why do you think this is the case. My first thought is all the talent that has aged out that wants to stay in the game. Other thoughts??
I think it is a convergence of sevral issues.
Aging out talent is definitley one of the reasons. This could be that there is not as much emphaisis at training developing boiys as girls. We expect most guys to get it quirckly. When they don't they either languish back on lower levels or quit. So when those who have really pushed themselves to excel, there is not a new boy to take their place. Unless someone new and skilled walks through the door, it is very difficult to remain competitive in the coed divisions.
Another is competition. You can put together a great Large Coed team to compete locally or regionally. But when you consider going up against the best in the world, your prospects are much dimmer. So to have a reasonable chance of placing well, you end up changing division. Rather than do it for one comeptition which is what we say in years past, gyms are setting their teams up that way for the entire year.
Same argument goes for World's. Chances of breaking in the top 5 are every slim in both Large Coed and in Small Senior. The added division gives a couple of more chances, but of course the gyms who can already maximize their talent, will make the adjustment as well. IDK but I am thinking we will see the same gym names, just different teams in this division.
Competition wise it is very hard to be truly comeptive with 1-4 boys vs 24 boys. international gives them a chance on perhaps going that route without competing against the top name programs in Large Coed. Especially with the no crossover rule, some gyms will have to pick which division they want to be in. They won't be able to field both...not for worlds and truly be at their best in both divisions.Same goes true for the girls as well here.
Then financially many gyms subsidize the boys participation in part or in whole. This makes them financially speaking a drain on the gym that can only be offset by major wins at major competitions. Some gyms may be at the point where they are tired of subsidzing that cost, which of course would result in a shift. After all if you have been cheering free and going to competitions at reduced cost or for free then all of a sudden you are told you must pay something that is a major shift.
another reason might be if a gym can't field enough guys for unlimited coed but have more than 5 guys with the talent because international has 12 guys on it
I am really excited to see what teams like All American and Brandon are going to bring to this division! I think that this will be the hardest division at worlds because everyone has to pull their own weight. With 20 people, everyone is seen and no one can fake anything.
what's up with ca's camarillo gym? I heard it's falling apart, anyone know? i hope they can pull it together.
ya I heard all the coaches left and all the parents want to leave because of some crazy parent.
i dont know where you are getting your information but its not true. The camarillo gym is doing fine. One coach left, everybody else has stayed put. Speed Camp is this weekend for stunts and pyramids for the routines and everything seems to be moving. It is interesting that both of you "heard" what is happening at a gym that isnt yours. Good luck next season to everyone.

Some people need to understand thats it is hard to go from a gym and coaches that are all about family and having fun to a gym all about perfection and winning. Its just something that you have to get used to, just because people are complaining doesent mean the gym is having problems or falling apart. People just need to vent sometimes they will get over it and we will have a great season.
