RE: People who dont pay their CHEER BILLS

Maybe we should start a bad check list or unpaid debt list on cheer gyms.  This way we can list those with outstanding balances and it is public information.  I bet they will pay the bills and stop talking crap.  We can title it "BILL SLACKERS" I have a few names I would like to add to this list.  HA HA.

I see stores post people who have written bad checks why couldnt we post this on the WWW.  Does anyone have FACTUAL information to support the pros and cons other than it is "against the law". Please site your source of law that you are quoting for my reference.

I know a family with two girl's who left r gym with a balance, and I'm sure she's sitting at her new gym with a balance and acting like she doesn't care.  But is the first one to go and sign her kids up for privates and whatever else is going on in the gym.

Then if the owner is allowing her to sign up for privates (as my understanding those monies are due at time of service rendered) then the owner deserves to be taken to the cleaners.  Please owners don't get me wrong but sometimes your understanding and generousity is over extended. I would not allow privates or whant not until my bills are paid free and clear cause maybe that extra 30 - 35 can be put towards those schedule of payments that were set up for them to pay what they owe.  Just a thought...

Maybe this is something that should be done?  Who knows.  Here's something for all of you.  I know a person that wrote rubber checks over and over again.  This person came up with excuse after excuse.  Ended up picking a fight with one of the coaches to justfiy her reason to leave the prrevious gym - oh and left a huge debt obligation.  Joined aother gym and now is a program director for the gym.  My dad always said, "Lessons are never learned until you experience them yourselves."  Maybe now the tables will turn and this person will see what it's really like to have collect money from others that don't want ot pay their accounts on time.

As a cheer gym customer, I HATE hearing about people who have had checks bounce or not paid their bills.  It isn't my business and I will never accept shaming people as a means of teaching.  If my daughter's gym did that I would leave on principal.  That is NOT they type of lessons I want her to be learning! cry

I'd be outta there too.  I have never bounced a check, but I would never want to see a child humiliated even if their parent can't balance their checkbook.

I would stay and make sure I wasn't on that list.  We would finally hear the real reasons as to why someone left the gym instead of the the bad mouthing about the gym did this or the gym did that.  It would finally be, the gym kicked you out and you are pissed off.  The parents would have to own up to the realities of life.

The caution flag would definitely be raised.  This parent would be the first one I would look for payment from each month.  No simpathy votes here.

Our gym did know about a family that was still obligated to the previous gym and our gym turned the client away.  Now, mind you we are a small gym and yes, the extra body would have help but we couldn't allow this client to participate in our gym knowing all along the client owed the previous gym money.  It just wasn't right.  It's about Karma and doing the right thing you know.

Just a little bug in an owners ear....

It's against the law to write a bad check.

Keep that in mind.

You don't need to be the bad guy. Sometimes someone else needs to step in if it's a problem.

But more importantly maybe these parents that can't pay their bills should be teaching their children the word NO.

Why do some parent's keep giving things to their kids when clearly they can't afford to ?  A better lesson to be teaching those kids would be.
Don't over extend yourself. All they are doing is raising children who will never learn to pay their bills and leave a huge debt wherever they go.

YOU can't sponge off people forever eventually someone will post your name publicly. Why is it okay to screw the gym owners.

IF YOU CAN'T DO THE TIME    DON'T DO THE CRIME furious

Seriously I know that this is a heated topic, but really gym owners if you do not have a collection process in place that is your issue.

It is really easy if a person bounces a check you send the check to the district attorneys office and they will collect it for you, they will also make the parents do a class. Start there, okay, then if the parent leaves owing you money, be realistic, collect what you can, that is what small claims court is for and if you get a judgment you can put this on their credit, you do have a signed contract, then when they go to buy a house, car etc, they will be unable to until their debt to you is paid.

I hope this information is helpful to you, I am not trying to be mean, but really handle this as if it were a business and you will never have to second guess your ethics.

This is just my opinion, but parents should not be privy to who has or had not paid their bills.  Yes I sympathize with the gym owners.  They are running a business and need to be paid for their services.  This is whys I pay my bill on time.  But the only way other parents are going to know is if the owner/coaches openly talk about this to other parents.  I find this very unprofessional and consider this no better then spreading gossip.  Unfortunately it always ends up getting back to the kids.  I would hope that a gym owner would be a savvy enough business person to know how to handle unpaid bills.   If you dont pay you dont cheer its that simple.  If there are unpaid bills then dont let this person schedule additional classes for their child until the pass due amounts are current.  I think it would be common sense that an owner would take these steps before letting a parent continue doing this.  Yes it is illegal to write bad checks, but I would think anyone who has been in business for themselves already knows this and does not need to come on a message board to get this type of advice.  As far as posting bounced checks I dont feel it is right.   I also think that if a gym started doing this most people would be uncomfortable with it.   If I see a bad check posted at a store I its usually a faceless name.  At the gym these are people Ive gown to know and become friends with, almost like a second family.   I dont think this is the atmosphere most gym owner would want to chance damaging.  Would I consider leaving a gym that did this yes I would.  Like the poster  above said it is a matter of ethics on both sides.

What is with this "I will leave my gym" if they do this or that.  Wow these people are acting like they are the only people in the gym.

What is wrong with someone stating that if they are unhappy with the atmosphere, or the business practices of thier gym that they would consider leaving.  Why stay some place your not comfortable with.  No where in thier post did they give the impression that they thought they where the only ones in the gym.  If others are comfortable then by all means stay, but if an individual decides to leave so what of it. You comment is not only silly its ignorant.
