These are the Moments that I coach for. When an athlete hits the performance of a life time and all the blood, sweat and tears it took to get to that point no longer matter when they turn to tears of joy.
An amazing coach is one who believes in you, when you dont believe you can.

Somebody please explain to me how this can be seen as anything other than shameless self promotion? I seriously want to get another viewpoint because this makes me sad.
I don't feel this way, the focus is on the girl and her excitement.
Yeah, the pic is great and the first part of his message is great. But this quote "An amazing coach is one who believes in you, when you dont believe you can." ...coming from a coach, this kinda bugs.
Let's give the guy a break, he's a good coach or he wouldn't be at worlds AND it looks to me he loves what he does and he loves his kids.....is there ANYTHING wrong with that?????
I personally love the picture it gives me goosebumps......AND and An amazing coach IS one who believes in you, when you dont believe you can. I feel I am that coach also, amazing or not.....I do believe in my kids when they don't believe in themselves on and off the mat....if that makes me amazing according to that quote so be it!!!!
AND way to go All American, I love love love the "say cheese" part of the routine. I AM jealous that I didn't think of it first!!!! Great Job!!!

I was always taught that if you choose to look for the negative in something you will always find it. I look at this picture and choose to see an athlete who is overcome with pure joy and pride. I think it's a wonderful picture. Thank you for sharing it with us.

I am apart of this team, but i SWEAR it can't be because i know this girl is the sweetest thing in the world (because she is THEE sweetest thing in world seriously hands down) but can you not see the face she is making? i mean come on, the fulfilment, the enjoyment, and the satisfaction all in that face. i mean, I'm sorry jamie christianson caught the after shock of one of the best moments of her life; finishing and hitting the best routine she had ever thrown on a floor in front of thousands of people, something she may never do again. and you want to criticize it as shameless self promotion from someone who is nothing but proud of her? it is not that in any way, i promise. it is however, a coach and one of his harworking athletes coming together with a bond that only sweat, tears, blood, and hard work can bring together. this bond they shared as he carried her off the floor as she was gasping for air, as i was, off that floor on that saturday in orlando florida. and cheetyme owner, thank you for your comment i swear it gave me goosebumps as well.
from the anon post that quoted Shawn's quote "An amazing coach is one who believes in you, when you dont believe you can," and it bugging you? as a member of that team, i promise there were multiple times that I wanted to drop to the floor and quite, let alone believe in myself OR my team, but that shameless guy shawn calmy said, do it again, because he believed in us, when i can for sure promise you none of us did, because there were a couple of guys in his face saying we couldn't (it was unsafe, we were too tired, someone would get hurt), but he stood against us knowing we could and fought for us, AGAINST US, because he believed in us, when WE didn't. i hope that partially clarifies his statement because knowing him as well as i do, those were his intentions in that post, I am sorry you might have misunderstood his post and it bugged you, i apologize.

I'm the one that responded about the quote. I don't think I was very clear. I agree with the quote 100%, I've had coaches like that and they are incredible. I also think this is an AMAZING picture that really captures the moment and should be treasured. What bugs me is a COACH saying "this is what a great coach is" ...that's like complimenting yourself. Sorry, that's the only thing that bugged me, and I probably shouldn't have posted about it in the first place, really wasn't trying to cause drama or bash Shawn, I think he is a great coach and deserving of that quote. I just didn't like that he used it to describe/compliment himself.
His quote is very true! I dont think he put it on there to compiment himself. "An amazing coach is one who believes in you, when you dont believe you can." I think it is something that a lot of coaches strive to do. If you are a coach, you SHOULD know that. If you are a parent, you DEFINATELY should know this (from a parents perspective) and if your a cheerleader, would you want a coach who didnt believe in you? It is just a quote, and you are looking too far into it. I just dont understand why everyone has to bte on everyones glorious moments! How does it taste?! (had to add a little humor/sarcasm in there)
i do not personally know either the coach or the girl in the above photo. my daughter cheers, and my first thought was nothing but pure joy for both of them. what a fantastic moment! maybe there are neigh sayers critizing this picture because a.) their daughter does not or has not ever had that moment of joy on a team. or b.) they cannont ever imagine their daughter having that type of relationship with their coach. either way it's very sad. congratualtions again to CA for a truly amazing performance at worlds!!!
are you kidding me? terrible display of sportsmanship. we're so good we dont take our routine seriously or is it we don't care now since this is our last performance.
I guess people's interpretation is always going to differ. I looked at it and thought, "Wow, they're having fun." I hope they did.
Looking at the pic you might think that. But in all honestly - if you saw the routine - you would love it. It was really cool! They had a blast! Good job!
