ECONOMY AND CHEER

So we've many discussions about how the economy will effect allstar business. For those who have already had tryouts, are in the middle of it or just have info from friends and family - how have turnouts been?  Bigger than expected?  Unaffected? Difficult?

Do any gyms expect to increase in team numbers? More youth (yes!)? or Significant increases Level 5 athletes, not including in-house graduations to next skill level?

It has affected our team greatly. Our team grew about twice as large last year at tryouts than our previous first year as a team, but this year we had a lot of girls not return due to finances or go to High school cheer becasue it was cheaper.

We are at a small gym that has only been around a few years.  We've grown steadly in numbers each year, and this year have added about 20 or so kids.   I think all total we now have about 80 kids.  I think sometimes growing slowly is the best way.  Plus I like being at a smaller gym.

interesting question I too was wondering how the economy would effect the turn out at tryouts this season but when I couldnt get into the parking lot at the CA Camarillo gym (and it was just the 9-14yr old tryout time) I was blown away and pleasantly surprised!!! Guess we will do what it takes to let our kids cheer even if we have to count change to pay for it!biggrin

the picture may have been of just the front of the building. We have parking spaces that wrap all the way around the building. I know it isnt great to say that we started overflowing into the attatched neighboring parking lot but we surely did. trust me, there are way more than twenty two i am there everyday.

We're a small gym that will be growing this season for sure; it looks like the same families are returning plus many new faces, and we still have a couple future tryout dates.  The economy is bad, but I guess not bad enough to force families to quit.  Not yet anyway, thank goodness.  But I think a lot of families will be doing some major fundraising, so I'm glad that option is available.  I think most if not all gyms offer ways to fundraise, and if they don't they certainly should.

your wrong. simple as that. there are more spaces. i didnt log on and off three minutes later. my username is churleada and any moderator would be able to tell you that. there are parking spaces in the back of the building as well as the front and along both sides. Not only that, but people can park on the street in front of the building. The street is maybe 20 feet from the front door.

It looks like the fierce staff was working over time. They just had tryouts today and already have the results posted. It looks like they had 134 cheerleaders try out. They will be having 7 all star cheer teams, a special needs team, and a parent team. Congratulations Fierce and Goodluck This Season!smile

My daughter tried out this year.  Depending on the competition schedule and and what my monthly fees are going to be for the year will depend on whether she will continue.  The fees the gyms are collecting are getting way out of hand.

When people get their fees for the year to cover competition expenses, do you get a breakdown of what those fees are applied for.

For example, out team travels together, stays together.  We know what our competion schedule is and then we are told we owe $250 for 10 months to cover those expenses.  If you have this scenerio does your gym provide a break down of what that $250 for 10 months cover?
