To compete or not to compete

I have my own opinion on this subject but I wanted to hear yours.

When your gyms level 5 teams are gearing up for worlds do you feel it is more of an advantage to compete in local comps right up until they leave for worlds or do you feel that this is a time for those level 5 teams to stay in the gyms and use this time "last month before worlds" to change/perfect certain aspects of their routines ?

Well I noticed World Cup competed ALOt this season and it worked to their advantage. They got alot of judges feedback and really owned the routine at Worlds. The more a team performs the routine, the better they will be. Being at the gym is nothing like competing on a floor.

The experience of competing in front of crowds and judges I would think would only benifit a team.

I find it crazy that so many teams put together new routines or drastically change their routine right before Worlds. It seems to work fine, but I don't think I would be a coach that would be taking that kind of risk. I think it's a good idea to keep them in competition mode by competing at local comps; however, then you're risking injuries. I'm so glad I'm not a coach/owner, I would always be second guessing what I'm doing.
