i heard about the varsity all levels things. from what i heard, it sounded more like a "super nationals" not a "worlds"
Well supernationals or small worlds or not.. .I think it's a great idea.. And i'm sure if your gym put it on their comp schedule everyone would be excited. What a great Super Nationals for teams on top of thier levels! If we go, i will be proud to represent our teams there.
I definitely think world's should be limited to levels 5 and 6. That said, I am a bit tired of the million "Nationals". It almost feels like winning nationals doesn't mean a whole heck of a lot. So have a "super nationals" for levels 1-5 and then worlds for the elites would make sense...but I think the super nationals should have bids like worlds does and make it a true blue nationals!
If you have one Super National that requires bids, what is the difference between that and Worlds, besides opening it up to international teams?? I would guess there would be no difference except for the name.
OMG - that is too funny! I gained weight on our family Disney trip this year as well!
It's all that theme park crap food. Just trying to get something decent and nutritious to eat was a challenge, much less something that actually tasted good, and if that weren't bad enough, the crap food costs a fortune! And $2.50 for a bottle of water?!??! It would have been cheaper to send cases of bottled water by FedEx Ground to the hotel before we arrived. I could have even sold some of it for a profit.
To me the BIG difference would be that a "super" nationals would be open to all levels...1-5. Worlds is only level 5 and 6. The reason I like the bid idea is that it allows only the best teams to go...or perhaps, instead, if you win any of the numerous existing national competitions you get to compete at the "super" nationals.
If you don't have some sort of qualifier than "super" nationals would only be as meaningless as the myriad nationals we currently have.
If there is such a thing as what we're talking about and you need a bid, I hope you have to compete as the bid you qualified for. This would prevent what we see happen at NCA and Cheersport, and that is level 5's dropping to 4 just for these competitions, or 4's dropping to 3, etc...
So are there really plans in place for this from USASF (I haven't looked on their website). Will Final Destination still be around too? It would be a shame if gyms were split between the two competitions, it would defeat the purpose of trying to have a best of the best for each level.

There once was a time when you couldn't compete at ANY nationals until you received a bid at a regional. That's when USA, UCA , NCA , JAMZ and America's best were pretty much the only companies in this area (nor-cal) to host competitions. So getting a bid isn't necessarily a bad thing. Many teams from around here were still qualifying and placing very well at these nationals. So going to a "bid" system makes it more competitve and you really do get the best of the best at nationals or "final destination" type competitions. I think it's a good idea since I DON'T THINK there should be any more levels at worlds other than level 5 and 6 teams.
