I also heard the same thing about cheerleaders getting drunk and being very provocative on the dance floor. What a way to represent your gym. I bet they are proud.
Yep - and from some of the big winning programs (won't name names). Getting very drunk and dancing raunchy. Ick. I dunno if their coaches were there, or maybe they were joining in?!?

hay the parents that drink all the time at comps and bring their own are you the same ones that goes out drinking after you drop your child off at practice? If so then it is not all about the drink and when you do it, but maybe you have a big prob. It is just really sad.

Not funny. The majority of them were minors, poorly representing their gyms. Drunk and out of control. Really sad, especially for those watching. Since this was our first trip to Worlds, I don't know if this is what usually happens at the after party at Disney. Suprised nobody thinks this is an issue. Does USASF just look away and pretend this isn't happening?

Actually, this is a HUGE issue that was discussed over a period of months on ProX. The parents described incidences from World's 07. AceDad can tell you about it. They got together and forwarded letters to USASF demanding more control and security due to the amount of drinking and wrecklessness, especially with minors present. They did get a response. I'm guessing things were better this year because I haven't seen anything else about it. I'm sure things will always take a left if you leave enough minors and young adults with little or no supervision. But it sounded down right dangerous last year and the years prior. I'm glad those parents intervened.
I'm glad to hear that USASF is taking it seriously, but it doesn't seem like they went far enough. Since they added rules against drug/achohol use at competitions, why not go further to include all events, including the Disney party? It's a USASF sponsored event. Maybe if the kids on these teams knew they could get stripped of their placement and not allowed to compete the next year at Worlds it would deter the drinking.

It would never work. You will have kids from other teams with TOP GUN shirts on and a BUD in hand
Some of them were too drunk to even realize that they were shouting out their teams, placement, etc. to eachother, in the presence of other teams, parents, etc. As stated above, I won't name names. They weren't in our division, so it's not a matter of upping our own placement. Besides, I don't think USASF would take action against any team unless they had a staff member there personally to witness it. Besides they don't even have any rules right now to take any kind of action, unless it's specifically at the competition while performing or practicing.
To do the right thing, USASF would need to put the rule in place, and have staff members there to supervise the event. I saw staff members coordinating getting people on the buses, but don't recall seeing anyone at Animal Kingdom.

So what place did they get? Oh, and what division did you compete in?
