Dark Uniforms vs. Light Colored Uniforms

Do you think the color of a uniform effects how a team may place?  What about the sleeve design.  Do you think it makes a difference.  I had this discussion with some people and they all thought it did.  Just curious what everyone thought.

I don't know about light vs. dark uniforms, but I do think sleeve design can give a little extra boost to a routine. I've noticed that when a team has a dark color and then has white on the under part of their arms, it somehow seems to "flash" when they raise and lower their arms. I can't see that this would make a difference in placements, but I guess if two teams were unbelievably close than maybe?

Uniforms without sleeves make the routines look more sloppy. About the colors, obviously they don't determine the outcome, but they might have an impact on overall impression. Not sure whether dark or light uniforms give a better impression though.

Im not going to beat around the bush...... i think lighter uniforms look sharper on the mat.  or if you have dark or black uniforms, you need some shimmer sequins on it.   my vote is for lighter uniforms.  Power has a nice combination because it has silver and red which are bold colors.

I LOVE motions having the white that's on the bottom half of their sleeves! They live up to their name as well! The motions ALWAYS look tight and sharp, and the sleeves just add to it... aww.gif

I know this is an older topic but I was surprised to see it once I came back from Worlds. There were a couple close placements that I saw and one of the big differences was that the higher team had white uniforms. They really pop and lend to synchronization. Such a clean look!

Personally I like the lighter uniforms better. Gotta be hard to keep the clean all season or 2 or 3 though.

i don't think it really matters too much. as long as the design of the uniform is good. because if you go out there in an ugly uniform, it might not really affect your score directly, but it will make the judges subconsciously not like you as much.

Uniforms look best dark. It is more dominant. White gets dirty really easy, and white makes girls look...bigger.
Also Sleaves cover sloppy motions. And if you have sleaves that come off...make sure they fit. But you have to have some type of glitter or shine other wise its dull.

I personally like the lighter colors.  They pop on stage.  The one color I don't like is purple.  I don't like the way it looks on stage.

yes the uniforms have a ton of impact on how the routine looks in my opinion. dark colors i think are best. with a light accent color. and, long skirts just look hard to move in. i personally also like the cropped tops. the whole long shell reminds me of Youth programs. not really allstars.

White uniforms look really sharp when a team is performing.  Some of the dark uniforms make a team disapear....

I take my own pictures at all competition, and to say which color of uniform stands out depends on the competition you're at.

For instance, American Championship has a white backdrop that is busy with loud colors on it.  At this competition, dark uniforms stood out.

Athletic Championships has a dark background so of course the white uniforms pop.

So there really isn't a right or wrong since all competitions are different.
