Gym hopping i think is when you have been to each and every gym within a 30 mile radius within 3-5 years depending upon the number of gyms in your area.  We have a gym hopper.  She and her kids have been to every gym in the area.  I think she owes everyone money from unpaid debt.  I think she just does not pay then moves to another gym.  She then runs up another bill and moves to another gym.  By the way she has talked so badly about every gym she has been at.  She is going to have to move out of town if she keeps hoppiTng she will run out of gyms and everyone in the area knows she has a bad rep..

LOL......We have one of those parents too!  I have parents who pay their bill, but still "hop" because they do not get what they want......just say good bye to those people!  They will never be happy......and if they slander our gym...I sue! smile

I've seen it happen quite often. We even have coaches that cheer for other gyms because they offer Open Teams. It's a small community, I've learned to live with it after 7 years. Drop some names, I wanna hear some hot gossip!

In all honesty, it's bad business. It's a gyms fault, they do not have these coaches sign non-competes. I believe that's what it's called. sorry brain fart.

My gym does not have an open team and I specifically cheer an hour and a half away so that there is no possiblity of conflict. The drive sucks but its better go far away than have my athletes following me to ABC Gym. I love the open team I cheer for an I have become VERY close friends with the coaches of this gym. They respect my program and support my teams at every competition we end up at together and my gym does the same.

Sounds to me like people allow her to do this so hey why not. Did she try this with the wrong gym this time ? It sounds like it to me. Maybe once you sue her she will stop doing this. If I were her I would be scarred

After many years of just letting people go and their unpaid debts to pile up, the owners of our gym finaly started to sue those who left and would not pay their bill or make arrangements to finish paying the bill. They gave people every opportunity to settle the bill because they don't want to waste one day in court over something like this.

What is funny to us is to hear the parents they have had to sue (who all lost in court) to say how they are only in it for the money! And when their kids spread that same mess around their new gyms...it is a rior. But what do you do? So many people feel they are entitiled to what they "take" not to what they are "given."

Here is my thing-

I am a parent who left a gym two months into the season and $2500 lighter, (since we were paying for camps and uniforms upfront, yada , yada) The gym owner claimed she was going to sue me etc, claiming I owed her money and I laughed and told her....

REMEMBER THIS: A contract goes both ways!!! ( I pay for you to deliver, the burden of proof was on her I could prove I paid)

(HAHA) I never heard from her again.smile.gif

You probably didn't hear from her again, because once it goes so far in to the stages of lawsuits or collections, the owner isn't ALLOWED to communicate with the client any longer.  She was playing by the rule, it appears you weren't.  I certainly hope you aren't at another gym or school looking for ways to get a FREE uniform or something else.

I'm confused.  Anon 12:18 said they paid.  It sounds like they didn't get a uniform or camps in return.  Why would you (Anon 12:54) say that they are trying to get free uniforms from somewhere else?

Don't jump into that one.  My guess is 12:54 knows who 12:18 is!

Every situation is different. Since I do not know all of the details of your personal situation, as well as hearing the other side of the story any agreement or disagreement is biased. There are always three sides to every story...well four if it is the cheer world. The two inviduals, the truth, and the opinion/gossip. Many times people would rather hold onto the gossip/opinion because it validates how they want to feel, rather than accept the truth which calls for a reorganization of emotions.

In our situations only the owner made every attempt to settle the bill, which meant much smaller payments, regular payments and waiving some of the bill. Depending on the individual families situation they may just waive the whole thing (family emergencies, divorce, etc.) Court was always the last resort and even then (because of state statutes) in some cases could only be sued for a portion of the debt.

Wow this sounds like the housing market in California.  Get in over your head not happy with the neighbors just turn the keys in a walk away.  Sometimes it's just to easy not to follow thru with your comitments wether it be the gym owner or the parents even the cheerleaders.  I love are coaches and owner of our gym.  I may not always like them, but I do respect the way the treat the girls.  Most of all my kids come home from practice with a smile on there face, speaks volumes to me

Yes it does sound like the housing market.  I do agree with the other comment that they tell their kids-friends-family only half the story  and try to make people feel sorry for them.   A BUNCH of crock if you ask me.  Some people just want something for free.  Just like the go to a restraunt eat the dinner and then complain that it was bad just to eat free.   Yes  we have one of those too.   UGLY.  She is running out of options and has burned way too many bridges  people are able to see her colors.  Also people who live in glass houses should NEVER throw rocks.

What about the mom who at the end of the season leaves the gym, and trys to get not only her daughters friends to leave but other girls on the youth teams, juniors....ect.  She was mad because her daughter did not fly this year.  The mom picks on the other cheerleaders about their hair, nails...ect.  She is the type of mom that wants to know everything and tells you what ever you want to know to make self look good.  Her daughter is nice and a good kid, I feel sorry for her.  Her mom is burning bridgescry

Well, when you have a cheerleader or coach who have been to 3 or 4 gyms in the area,  you start to wonder if it's the gyms....or the participants!!! =)
